If you want to start Nintendogs over again, sell the game or buy it hand-held, but find that there is already a save on it, there is an easy way to delete it. However, if you are using an R4 cartridge to play the game, you will have to use a computer to delete the save.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Uninstall Nintendogs Using Button Combinations

1. 1 Insert the game into your console. Turn on your console and click on Nintendogs at the top of the screen (skip this step if you've set your console to auto mode).
2. 2 When the Nintendo splash screen appears, you will need to hold down the buttons L, R, A, B, Y, X. You will fail if the game loads before you have time to press the buttons.
   • For everything to work out, the buttons must be pressed simultaneously. If you find it difficult to do this, try pressing them with the sides of your fingers.
3. 3 Click Yes when asked if you really want to delete the current Nintendogs game. If you delete the game, you will lose all dogs, trainer points and money. Once the file is deleted, you cannot return it. Make sure you are really prepared to lose all of your progress.
   • Click "Yes" and your game will be deleted. Now you can start a new game as if you had just unpacked it.
   • If you change your mind, just click "No" and continue playing.

Method 2 of 2: Removing a Nintendogs Save from an R4 Cartridge

1. 1 Remove the Micro SD from the R4 cartridge. Micro SD is a small memory card that fits into the upper left corner of the R4 cartridge.
2. 2 Insert Micro SD into Micro SD card reader. The memory reader is similar to a regular USB flash drive that connects to a computer, only has a Micro SD slot at one end. This device should come with an R4 cartridge.
3. 3 Insert the Micro SD reader into a USB port on your computer. This will bring up a dialog box with various options. Select "Open Folder". Then open the Games folder and find the nintendogs.sav file.
4. 4 Drag the nintendogs.sav file to the trash can to delete the save. You will lose all your progress: all dogs, money, trainer points and purchased items. Before you uninstall the game, make sure you are really ready to lose it all!
5. 5 Remove the device from the USB port and insert the Micro SD card into the R4 cartridge. Insert the cartridge into the console and launch Nintendogs. The save will be deleted and you can start a new game.

Warnings

• Once you uninstall the game, you will never see Nintendogs in this file again, so think carefully before doing this.
