If for some reason you decide to delete your Instagram account, you may be frustrated by the fact that there is no clear way to achieve this from a mobile application. Fortunately, you can delete your Instagram account through the Help Center. After that, uninstalling Instagram will be as easy as uninstalling the app itself from your phone. Note that after you delete your account, your Instagram data cannot be recovered.

Steps

Part 1 of 2: Deleting an Account

1. 1 Click on the Instagram app to open it. Instagram can be uninstalled through the Help Center in the settings menu.
2. 2 Open your account page. To do this, click on the man-shaped icon in the lower right corner of the screen.
3. 3 Open the Settings menu. The menu icon is shaped like a gear and is located in the upper right corner of the screen.
4. 4 Click on the "Help Center" option. It's in the Support section at the bottom of the settings menu.
5. 5 Click on the "Manage your account" option. It's near the top of the screen.
6. 6 Click on the link "Account Deletion". You will be redirected to a help page with information on how to delete your account.
7. 7 Click on the option “How do I delete my account?". You do not need to read the entire content of this page, as there is a link in paragraph 1 to delete your account.
8. 8 Click on the link "Account Deletion". It is located in the first paragraph, under the heading: "To permanently delete your account:".
   • To temporarily block your account, click on the "temporarily block your account" link. Blocking an account will remove it from search results, but it can be restored at any time.
9. 9 Enter your username and password. This is required to confirm the deletion of your account.
   • Click Sign In to go to the Delete Account page.
10. 10 Click on the box at the bottom of the page. It is located under the text: "Why are you deleting your account?" Click on it to select a reason for deleting your account.
11. 11 Select a reason for deletion and click Finish. This will unlock the rest of the options for deleting your account.
12. 12 Enter your password again. The password field is located at the bottom of the page, immediately below the text: "Please enter your password again to continue."
13. 13 Click on the button "Permanently delete my account". This will delete your Instagram account and all its contents!

Part 2 of 2: Uninstalling the Instagram app

1. 1 Click on the Home button. This will exit the application.
2. 2 Find the app on your phone. Depending on the number of applications on your phone, you may need to swipe right on the desktop several times.
3. 3 Click on the application icon and do not release it. This will prepare the application for uninstallation. The icon will begin to shake, and then an "X" will appear in the upper left corner.
4. 4 Click on the "X". This will confirm that you want to remove the Instagram app from your iPhone.
5. 5 Click on the "Delete" option when it appears. This will uninstall the app and all associated data!

Tips

• If you don't want Instagram on your phone, consider just uninstalling the app and keeping your account, as once you uninstall it, you won't be able to get its contents back.

Warnings

• Once an Instagram account is deleted, it can no longer be recovered.
• When you delete your account, all your photos, videos, messages and followers will be permanently deleted.
