1 Use baby shampoo. Think baby shampoo is just for bathing babies? Tear-free baby shampoo is a good way to remove mascara (even waterproof), eyeshadow and eyeliner. Eye makeup remover can get quite expensive (especially if you frequently wear makeup on your eyes), so it is an affordable and painless way to remove makeup. Doesn't burn!
  • 2 Wet your eye area with a little warm tap water. Alternatively, you can squeeze the shampoo onto a cotton swab and apply it to your eyelids. Using cotton swabs can help avoid clutter in the process.
    • If you only want to remove part of your makeup (for example, you applied it indistinctly or made a mistake), use a cotton swab! Just apply a little shampoo (or whatever you have at your disposal) to the desired area. Then wipe off the shampoo with the other end of the cotton swab. Voila!
  • 3 Apply a small amount of baby shampoo and rub. Some foam is likely to appear. Keep your eyes closed to avoid getting shampoo in. Even if it is a “no tears” shampoo, don't risk it!
  • 4 Rinse off the shampoo with warm water. As with any detergent, take a towel and wipe off the baby shampoo. TA-dah! Then gently dry your face with a towel.
    • If baby shampoo doesn't work, or you don't have one available, try the methods below!
  • Method 2 of 2: Using Alternative Methods

    1. 1 Use your own moisturizer or gentle soap or cleanser. If you haven't plastered your face with glue, chances are your moisturizer, cooling cream, or cleanser can work on makeup as effectively as any special makeup remover lotion. Just close your eyes, rub gently around the eye area and wipe with a cloth. You have already washed, so why not?
      • Don't worry about burning your eyes - unless you use a cleanser that is not mild (such as containing salicylic acid), you will feel good as long as you keep your eyes closed.
      • After washing your face, dry your face and eyes with a towel.
    2. 2 Do it yourself! Do you feel like a child of nature? Then you can make your own eye makeup remover! All oils are suitable for this, but olive, mineral, or almond works best.
      • Try combining 60 ml witch hazel with 60 ml olive oil for an easy homemade make-up removal. Shake the mixture, rub a little on a cotton swab or cloth, and wipe the desired area. Then wipe again with a dry cloth or cotton swab.
      • Witch hazel is good for wrinkles! It doesn't have a strong scent, but it can easily make your skin look smooth!
    3. 3 Be careful with petroleum jelly and oils. Some people adore using petroleum jelly or oils (especially mineral oil or baby oil) to remove makeup, but you cannot completely trust them. Using them can create a membrane around the eyes, blocking pores and creating small bumps called milia. If you have anything else, try this first.
    4. 4 Use baby wipes. If you're looking for a less messy, non-stinging way, baby wipes are a good solution. All you have to do is take a napkin to wipe your eye (closed, of course!); makeup will be washed off immediately. Place your napkins by your bed so you don't even have to get up to dry your face at night!
      • There are also special makeup remover wipes!
    5. 5 Spend money on special makeup removers. If you have very sensitive skin and neither baby shampoo nor cheap makeup removers are right for you, you may need to get a good makeup remover. They are expensive, but if used wisely, they will last for a long time. There are dozens of such products. Pick a brand you trust and you won't regret it.
      • Clinique, Noxzema, Neutrogena, MAC and Lancome all have products that are worth your money. There are makeup removers in liquid form, as a cleanser, in the form of wet wipes that foam, or even in the form of creams. You will definitely come across something that you like!

    Tips

    • If you use eyeliner and smudge it (the eyes are not painted with shadow), you can take a cotton swab, put some lotion on it, or wet it. Use a wand to correct the stroke of the pencil.
    • To remove eyeliner from the lower lash line, simply dip a cotton swab into a makeup remover (or equivalent) and wipe gently. (Do not rub hard, as this can lead to wrinkles.)
    • Alternatively, you can try using a small amount of olive oil. Apply some oil to a piece of tissue or cotton swab and gently on your eyelid. The makeup will disappear instantly.
    • If you're unfamiliar with using baby eye shampoo, try using baby wipes! Although designed for the buttocks, these gentle wipes will easily remove any makeup without clogging your pores. Just close your eyes and rub the cloth over your lashes and under your eyes.
    • At worst, just take a drop of your scented lotion and dry your eyelids. Try to keep the lotion out of your eyes, so close your eyes as you wipe your eyelids.

    Warnings

    • Do not rub too hard when removing makeup with Vaseline, as this can cause irritation.
    • Flush your eyes one at a time. Please do not try to apply Vaseline to both eyes and then try to rub off your makeup.
    • Some people are severely allergic to petroleum jelly in the eye area, so be careful.
    • Do not use regular shampoos or shampoos without a “no tears” label because they will burn. If you have no choice when you wash off the shampoo, dry your eyes with a towel.
    • Do not use baby wipes near the eyes, if they contain alcohol, they can sting the eyes, make the eyes painful, and eventually the eyes will become red and puffy.
