Synchronizing the controller with the console allows the controller to communicate with the console, either temporarily or permanently. The controller you get with the system is already synced, but if you are using a new controller, you must sync it. Here's how to sync your controller to any console.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Synchronizing the Controller in Standard Mode

1. 1 Press the power button on the Wii console. It should turn green. Once that happens, the console is turned on and ready to sync.
2. 2 Open the SD card slot cover on the front of the Wii console. This is the panel on the front, next to the "eject" button. You will see a red button to the left of the SD slot.
3. 3 Remove the battery cover from the back of the Wii controller you want to sync. If there are no batteries in there (or they are empty), put new ones in there.
4. 4 Press the SYNC button under the batteries on the Wii controller.
   • Use the tip of a pen or paper clip if necessary. It is not necessary to keep the button pressed, you just have to quickly press and release it.
5. 5 Press and release the SYNC button on the console while the player's ICE light blinks on the controller.
   • If the LED light on the Wii controller stops flashing, simply press the SYNC button again.
   • When the player's ice light stops flashing, the process is over. You will be able to see a lit ice light bulb on the controller that will show the player's number.
     • This procedure must be repeated for each controller that you want to sync.

Method 2 of 2: Synchronizing the Controller in One Time Mode

1. 1 Know the essence of one time sync mode. This is different from sync in standard mode and is not constant.
   • Sync in once mode allows you to use your controller on another Wii console (say, your friend) or a different controller on your console. You can use this mode to change the order of the players without having to turn off the Wii and start over.
   • This mode does not get rid of the Standard Mode settings. Once you turn off the console, the mode settings will disappear once and never come back. If you accidentally turn off your console, you will need to start the process over as it will return to standard mode settings.
2. 2 Press the HOME button. Make sure you are using a controller that is synced to the console.
   • Make sure both console and controller are working properly.
3. 3 Select Wii Controller Settings from the Home Button Menu. Other options are Wii Menu, Operations Guide, Reset and Close.
4. 4 Select the "Reconnect" option. This is also where you change the volume.
   • These are temporary settings.If you sync to another person's console, your controller will be out of sync as soon as the console is turned off.
5. 5 Press buttons 1 and 2 at the same time. Important: Use the Wii controller you want to sync with the console. This is not a difficult task, but who knows ...
   • The player's ice light will flash during the sync process. When the flashing stops, the connection has been made.
   • If you're syncing multiple Wii controllers, press buttons 1 and 2 on the controller you want to be the first. Immediately after that, press buttons 1 and 2 on the controller you want the second to be. The order in which the buttons are pressed will determine the order of the players in the game.

Tips

• Make sure the controller and console are close enough to recognize each other.
• Only in standard mode, the Wii controller can turn off or turn on the Wii console.
