Bacteria is the very first type of epidemic to be discovered in the game; it is the most common cause of epidemics and has infinite potential. It has the standard modes of transmission and symptoms that most types of epidemics have, but it also has the unique ability to withstand harsh climatic zones. Beating the Bacteria on Brutal Difficulty can be a daunting task, but if you manage your symptoms correctly and ensure the spread of the bacteria, you won't be particularly challenged.

Steps

Part 1 of 3: Creating a Virus

1. 1 Choose genes. When starting the game, you will be able to choose several improvements for your virus. They are unlocked by playing the game over and over and you may not have access to all of the improvements. However, even if you did not choose any improvement, this mode can still be completed. Here are some tips if you have any improvements:
   • DNA Gene - Metabolic Leap. It gives you bonus DNA for every bubble that bursts.
   • Transfer Gene - Root Biome. Gives you bonus infectivity in the starting country.
   • Gene Evolution - Inhibition of symptoms. Prevents an increase in the price of symptoms.
   • Gene Mutation - Genetic Masking. Slows down vaccine research.
   • Environment Gene - Extremophile. Gives a bonus for all types of climates.
2. 2 Select your starting country. The starting country is very important as it determines how quickly the virus spreads. Start in China or India. China and India have the largest populations in the world, which increases the rate at which the infection spreads.
   • Both countries have a warm climate, which automatically gives your epidemic the ability to withstand warm weather.
   • China and India can quickly infect neighboring countries, and since both countries have a seaport and an airport, infected citizens will travel to other countries very quickly.
3. 3 Get rid of your symptoms at all times. Over the course of in-game time, your bacteria will randomly develop symptoms. Be sure to get rid of all of them, or too much effort will be put into the vaccine.To get rid of a symptom, click on the DNA button at the bottom left of the screen and select symptoms. Click on the evolved gene and click the undo button at the bottom right of the menu.

Part 2 of 3: Infecting the World

1. 1 Increase the speed of propagation. Once you start making DNA, you can start working on making your virus more infectious. Start by unlocking Level 1 Water and Level 1 Air. They increase the bacteria's ability to spread through ships and aircraft.
2. 2 Improve the resistance of your bacteria. Bacterial resistance is the unique ability of bacteria. It thickens the shell of the bacteria, making it more comfortable in all climates. Drug resistance allows bacteria to spread in developed countries. The following transmission enhancements should also be added:
   • Bacterial resistance 1
   • Drug Resistance 1
   • Water 2
   • Air 2
   • Extreme bioaerosol - becomes available after reaching the maximum level of transmission by water and air. Enhances both characteristics.
   • Bacterial resistance 2 and 3
3. 3 Continue to develop symptoms. Remember to cancel every symptom resulting from an accidental mutation, even if it is not fatal. This will help keep drug development work to a minimum, while infecting all people.
4. 4 Wait for the world to be completely infected. This will most likely take a long time, so set your game speed to maximum. Remember to break bubbles and treat symptoms as they appear.
   • Once the entire population is infected, you will receive a message stating that there are no healthy people left. It's time to let go of the symptoms!

Part 3 of 3: Destruction of the Population

1. 1 Hit with all your might with a series of symptoms. If all people are infected, it means that it is time to quickly hit the population with all our might, so that it becomes extinct before the vaccine is finished. Develop the following symptoms, preferably in the same order:
   • Rash
   • Sweating
   • Fever
   • Suppression of the immune system
   • General organ failure
   • Coma
   • Paralysis
2. 2 Wait for people to start dying. As soon as humans start to die out, hit with another series of symptoms. They also have the added benefit of inhibiting drug creation:
   • Insomnia
   • Paranoia
   • Convulsions
   • Madness
3. 3 Slow down the creation of the drug. Most of the world should be dead or dying gradually, but perhaps you still need to worry about the cure. To slow down development progress, develop Genetic Fortification and Genetic Shuffle. Thanks to these improvements, your disease will be harder to analyze in the laboratory and research will slow down.
   • The development of this ability will also reduce the percentage of vaccine creation by 15-20%.
   • If the percentage of readiness again exceeds 60%, then use the shuffle again, improving it to the 2nd level, and then to the 3rd, if the progress again exceeds 60%.
   • Genetic hardening is also beneficial as it increases the time it takes to complete the drug. Use it to your advantage until the population is destroyed and no one remains.

Tips

• Don't waste DNA on transmission enhancements like Livestock and Birds. Better to accumulate DNA for symptoms that will help kill all people at the end of the game.
