Comic books have been published since the 1930s. Now many people have a new hobby - collecting comics, so there is a demand for special cases, boxes and other items for storing comics. 1. 1 There is a difference between the standard comics. Previously, comics contained up to 64 pages, which contained 4-5 stories about the adventures of the heroes. Recently, the cost of paper has increased markedly. The number of pages was reduced to 48, then to 32. The standard comic is usually 26.7 cm in height, and the width of comic magazines has decreased from 19.7 cm to 18.1 cm, and then increased to 18.4 cm. In the 1990s, the width of the comics decreased again to 19.5 cm. There are such cases for standard comics:
   • Golden period: 19.7 x 26.7cm. These are comic book cases printed between 1943 and 1960.
   • Silver period: 18.1 x 26.7cm. This is the size of some comics printed in 1951 and also in the period before 1965.
   • Regular comics: 18.4 x 26.7 cm. This is the size of comics released after 1965 and between 1970 and 1980.
   • Modern comics. 17.5 x 26.7 cm. These are comics released after 1990.
   • Be sure to measure the height and width of your comic before purchasing a storage case.
2. 2 Some comics are not released in magazine format at all, but this is quite rare. Most of the comics are published in the above sizes, but some magazines were published in special large formats, especially between the late 1960s and 1980s. There are special boxes and cases for them in the following sizes:
   • Magazine: 21.7 x 27.9 cm. This size is commonly used for Vampirella, Creepy Irie comics and Curtis comic adaptations.And also adaptations of comics from Marvel "Conan the Barbarian" and "Hulk".
   • Thick magazine: 22.2 x 27.9cm. Some of the men's Playboy magazines and others have been published in this format.
3. 3 You will need large bags and cases for valuable comics. Valuable, rare comic books tend to come in large sizes. For example, the famous first edition of DC comics, released during the golden period. It features famous stories such as A Christmas Carol (reprinted from DC and Marvel), as well as special editions of the Superman vs. Muhammad Ali comic. The size of these comics is 27cm x 34.3cm.
4. 4 Choose the type of plastic that suits you best. All the necessary materials can be purchased at a comic store or online store. Comics are packed in cases made of several types of plastic: polypropylene, polyethylene, mylar. The case should be replaced every 3-5 years to ensure the safe storage of the comics. Mylar does not need to be replaced as often as other materials, but it is a fairly rare material.

Warnings

• Remember, not all comics are of the same value. Comics released after 1980 have a higher circulation than earlier versions. Therefore, they are less valuable than old comics, and therefore cost much less.
