This article will show you how to create a post (publication) on Reddit. This can be done on a computer or mobile device. Before posting on Reddit, read the rules of etiquette.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: Computer

1. 1 Open the Reddit website. Go to https://old.reddit.com/r/ru/ in a browser. If you are already logged in, the Hot tab will open.
   • If you are not already signed in to your account, click "Login / Register" in the upper right corner of the screen, enter your username and password, and then click "Login".
2. 2 Click on the tab the main. It's in the upper-left side of your Reddit page.
3. 3 Select the post type. Select one of the types on the right side of the page:
   • "New link": you can place a link, photo or video;
   • New Text Post: You can publish a text post.
   • Some subreddits have only one post option, while others have several additional post options.
4. 4 Enter a title. Find the Title text box and enter a title for your post.
   • If you selected the New Link option, the Title text box is in the middle of the page.
5. 5 Choose a place to post. Check the box next to the "Profile" or "Subreddit" option. If you selected the "Subreddit" option, enter the name of the subreddit (for example, worldnews), and then select the name of the subreddit from the drop-down menu.
6. 6 Create a post. This process depends on the type of publication:
   • New Link: Enter the web address of the item you want to share in the URL field. You can also upload an image or video (and not post a link); to do this, click “Choose file” in the “image / video” field, and then select the file on your computer.
   • New Text Post: Enter your post text in the Text field.
7. 7 Scroll down and check the box next to “I'm not a robot”. It's near the bottom of the page.
8. 8 Click on Publish. This button is at the bottom of the window. Your post will be published on the selected subreddit.

Method 2 of 4: On iPhone

1. 1 Launch the Reddit app. Click on the orange icon with a white alien face. If you are already logged in, the main page will open.
   • If you are not already signed in to your account, click “Login” and then enter your username and password.
2. 2 Go to the tab Home (The main). It's at the top of the screen.
   • If you don't see this tab at the top of your screen, click on the Reddit icon in the bottom left corner of your screen.
3. 3 Click on the Post icon. This pencil-shaped icon is at the bottom of the screen. A pop-up menu with post options will open.
4. 4 Select the post type. From the pop-up menu, choose one of the following:
   • LINK
   • "IMAGE"
   • VIDEO
   • "TEXT"
5. 5 Select a community. Click “Choose a community” at the top of the page and then click “My Profile” to post to your profile, or tap the subreddit on the last page.
   • You can also enter the name of the subreddit in the Search box at the top of the page.
6. 6 Enter a title. Enter a title for your post in the “An interesting title” text box at the top of the page.
7. 7 Create a post. Depending on the type of post you selected, provide the following information:
   • "LINK": Enter the link address in the "http: //" field in the middle of the page;
   • IMAGE or VIDEO: Tap Camera or Library and then take a photo or video, or select it from your iPhone library;
   • TEXT: Enter the post text in the lower text box (optional).
8. 8 Click on POST (Post). It's in the upper right corner of the screen. Your post will be posted on the selected subreddit (or on your profile page).

Method 3 of 4: On an Android device

1. 1 Launch the Reddit app. Click on the orange icon with a white alien face. If you are already logged in, the main page will open.
   • If you are not already signed in to your account, click “Login” and then enter your username and password.
2. 2 Go to the tab Home (The main). It's at the top of the screen.
   • If you don't see this tab at the top of your screen, click on the Reddit icon in the bottom-left corner of your screen.
3. 3 Click on the Post icon. It's a blue and white "+" icon in the lower right corner of the screen. A pop-up menu will open.
4. 4 Select the post type. From the pop-up menu, choose one of the following:
   • Post image / video
   • "Post some text"
   • "Post a link"
5. 5 Select a community. Click “My Profile” at the top of the page and then select a subreddit or search for it in the text box at the top of the page.
   • Skip this step if you want to post on your profile and not on the subreddit.
6. 6 Enter a title. Enter your post title in the text box below your chosen location.
7. 7 Create a post. Depending on the type of post you selected, provide the following information:
   • Image / Video: Tap Image, Video, or Library, then take a photo or video, or select it from your iPhone library;
   • Text: Enter the post text in the Describe in more detail (optional) text box.
   • Link: Enter the link address in the field below the heading.
8. 8 Tap POST (Post). This button is in the upper right corner of the screen. Your post will be posted on the selected subreddit (or on your profile page).

Method 4 of 4: Rules of Etiquette

1. 1 Learn the basic rules. These rules apply to any Reddit post.
   • Do not post obscene content involving minors.
   • Refrain from spamming. Spam is the repeated posting of the same posts.
   • Don't try to influence how people vote for your posts. It is forbidden to ask (in any form) to vote for your publications.
   • Do not post personal information. This includes information about yourself and other people.
   • Do not harm or interfere with the site.
2. 2 Follow the specific rules for each subreddit. Subreddits are governed by their own secondary rules, which are governed by the main rules of Reddit. Most of them are about inappropriate post content.
   • To find out the specific rules for a subreddit, click on its link, click the menu button in the upper right corner of the screen, and then click Community Info (on a mobile device) or look at the right side of the home page of that subreddit (on a computer) ...
   • Violation of the subreddit rules will not lead to serious problems, but you may be asked to leave this subreddit and remove all posts from it. Also, violation of the rules is not pleasant to other users of the subreddit.
3. 3 Explore Reddit etiquette. You will find out what is and is not encouraged on this site. Here are some of the most important Reddit etiquette guidelines:
   • Be polite. Other Reddit users are people just like you. Think about how you would behave if you met them in real life.
   • Vote for posts and comments of other users. Do not vote exclusively "against" posts or comments - this does not comply with the rules of subreddits and does not add anything to the conversation.
   • Don't vote against just because you disagree with the other person.
   • Post meaningful posts, read new posts, and be sure to link to external sources. The point is to make a meaningful contribution to the conversation. Reddit users don't like spam or self-promotion. If you are confident that your post or comment will contribute to the conversation, be sure to publish it. Intrusive self-promotion or excessive attempts to expand your audience are not encouraged.
   • Let people know why you edited your comment or post. Be sure to do this because any Reddit user knows which posts have been edited.
   • Don't be rude. Reddit strives to create an active community, and rudeness undermines those efforts.
   • Do not start or engage in trolling and holivars, which are attacks on other users and do not contribute in any way to the discussion.

Tips

• Posts and comments can be formatted to your liking. For example, text can be strikethrough or bold, or indented.

Warnings

• Always follow the rules of your chosen subreddit, because they may include provisions that are not in the basic rules of Reddit.
