This article will show you how to create and use a boot funnel in Minecraft. Items that fall into the funnel are sent to the chest or furnace. Boot funnel can be created in desktop, mobile and console versions of Minecraft.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: How to create a funnel

  1. 1 Gather the required materials. To create a funnel, you need the following items:
    • 5 iron ingots... Iron ore is a gray rock with orange / peach patches that is most commonly found in caves or cliffs. To get iron, you need at least a stone pickaxe.
    • 2 wooden blocks... They can be obtained by cutting down any tree. Two blocks will make eight wooden planks, from which you can craft one chest.
    • Fuel... For example, coal is a gray rock with black patches. Wood planks can also be used as fuel.
    • Bake... It can be crafted from eight cobblestones in the workbench slots (leave the center slot empty).
    • Crafting table... It can be crafted using four planks in the inventory crafting grid.
  2. 2 Turn wooden blocks into planks. Open your inventory, add wood blocks to one crafting grid slot, and then move the resulting planks to your inventory.
    • In Minecraft PE, tap ⋯, tap the crafting grid icon, tap the planks icon, and tap 4x twice.
    • In the console version of Minecraft, press X (Xbox) or the square button (PlayStation), scroll down to select the type of wood you want, and then press A or X twice.
  3. 3 Smelt iron. Right click on the furnace to open it, add fuel to the bottom slot and iron ore to the top one. The furnace will start creating iron ingots.
    • In Minecraft PE, tap the bottom slot, tap fuel, tap the top slot, and tap iron ore.
    • In Minecraft for consoles, select a slot and press "Y" or the triangle button, then select fuel and press "Y" or the triangle button.
  4. 4 Create a chest. Open the workbench, add one stack of planks to each slot (except the center one), and then move the chest to your inventory.
    • In Minecraft PE, click on the chest icon and then click "1".
    • In Minecraft for consoles, select the chest icon and press "A" or "X".
  5. 5 Take iron ingots. Open the furnace and drag the ingots from the right slot to your inventory.
    • In Minecraft PE, open the furnace and tap the iron ingots icon on the right side of the screen.
    • In Minecraft for consoles, select a furnace, select the iron ingots icon and press "Y" or the triangle button.
  6. 6 Open the workbench again. Do this to start creating the funnel.
  7. 7 Craft a funnel. Add an iron ingot each to the top-left, middle-left, top-right, middle-right, and bottom-middle workbench slots, and then add a chest to the center slot. Move the created funnel to inventory. The funnel is now ready to use.
    • In Minecraft PE, click on the funnel icon and then tap "1 x".
    • In Minecraft for consoles, go to the Gears tab, select the funnel icon and press A or X.

Method 2 of 2: How to use the funnel

  1. 1 Make a stand for the funnel. The funnel must be at least one block above the ground, so place a block of earth where you want the funnel to be.
  2. 2 Place the funnel on the block of earth. Face the top face of the ground block and click the Place button. The wide part of the funnel will be directed upwards, and the narrow part towards the block of earth.
  3. 3 Break the block of earth. You can now place another item under the funnel.
  4. 4 Place the chest under the funnel. In this case, the items that fall into the funnel will go to the chest instead of falling to the ground.
    • Hold ⇧ Shift and right click to place the chest without opening the funnel.
    • To place a chest without opening a funnel in Minecraft PE or in the console version, sit down and then place the chest.
  5. 5 Open the funnel. To do this, right-click on it, tap on it, or click on the left trigger. Now you can put items in the funnel that will fall out of its bottom (and fall into the chest).
  6. 6 Create a monster trap. Place a funnel and a chest at the bottom of a mine 30 blocks deep, and then lure mobs to it - they will die, and the items they were carrying will fall into the chest.
    • Keep an eye on the capacity of the chest - if it is full, the trap will no longer collect items carried by mobs.
  7. 7 Create an automatic oven. Place the stove on the funnel, add fuel to the stove, and place the chest under the funnel. Now add raw food (like chicken) to the oven - when the meat is fried, it will automatically move to the chest.
    • Make sure the nose (narrower part) of the funnel is pointing towards the chest. Otherwise, food will simply fly out of the funnel.

Tips

  • A redstone switch can be connected to the funnel to turn it on and off as desired.

Warnings

  • Funnels are generally useless unless you have a lot of items to move or craft.
