Many would not refuse to become the owner of a fashionable and functional iPhone smartphone, but not everyone wants to pay for all these expensive tariff plans. We have great news - you can simply activate your smartphone with a GoPhone SIM card and enjoy all the benefits without exorbitant obligations! This requires a few simple steps, depending on the iPhone model you are using.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: iPhone 5

1. 1 Purchase iPhone 5. Check out eBay or retail stores.
2. 2 Purchase of a prepaid AT&T GoPhone kit. They are available from AT&T, eBay, Target, Best Buy and many other e-commerce retailers. The phone itself does not interest us, only the SIM card, so feel free to choose the cheapest option.
3. 3 Next, you need to turn off the iPhone, as well as the GoPhone itself.
4. 4 Removing the SIM card from the iPhone. To do this, use the supplied tool or an ordinary paper clip by inserting it into the hole on the right side of the smartphone. Remove the nano SIM card tray.
5. 5 Then remove the GoPhone SIM card. Following the instructions in link [1], cut the micro-SIM card from the GoPhone kit to fit the nano-SIM.
6. 6 Replacing the iPhone SIM card. Insert the GoPhone SIM card into the appropriate slot on your iPhone and slide the tray back into place.

   • Find a Wi-Fi hotspot and launch the Safari browser on your iPhone with a new SIM card.

   • Select "AT&T (PAYG)" or your local operator from the list of operators.
   • Click “Create Profile” to create and download the APN file.
   • Select "Install" and then "Replace" in the tooltip.
   • After the “Profile Installed” message appears on the screen, restart your iPhone.
   • After restarting go to "Settings" and turn off Wi-Fi. The 4G / LTE icon should appear in the upper left corner of the screen.
   • Turn on Wi-Fi again in the settings.
8. 8 Buying minutes for talking. Go to paygonline.com and purchase a plan that suits you.
   • Don't choose the "Unlimited $ 50 Monthly Plan" - it simply won't work. Instead, purchase a separate plan with internet access. Choose an inexpensive option first to make sure everything works as expected.

Method 2 of 3: iPhone 4

1. 1 Purchase iPhone 4 from AT&T. They can be found on eBay for about $ 250. Make sure it is not tied to a contract and has a SIM card in it.
2. 2 Purchase of a prepaid AT&T GoPhone kit. They are available from AT&T, eBay, Target, Best Buy and many other e-commerce retailers. The phone itself does not interest us, only the SIM card, so feel free to choose the cheapest option.
3. 3 Call AT&T Support. The toll free number for the United States is 1-800-331-0500. When prompted, say "Customer Service" to be connected to a service representative.
   • Say you need help transferring your old GoPhone plan to a new SIM.
   • Provide the ICCID number of the GoPhone SIM card (found on the SIM card), as well as the ICCID number of the new micro SIM (in the "About" tab of your iPhone 4 or in iTunes).
   • Provide the IMEI number of your iPhone, which is located on the micro SIM tray or in the "About" tab of your iPhone.
   • An AT&T employee will be able to determine by the IMEI and ICCID numbers that you are using an iPhone 4 and will report the possibility of transfer, but the inability to use the Internet. Agree to this, after which your GoPhone account will be transferred to the new micro-SIM.
4. 4 Connect to iTunes. Launch iTunes, pair with your iPhone, and follow the next steps to activate your phone.

6. 6 Turn Wi-Fi back on if necessary.

Method 3 of 3: iPhone - iPhone 3GS

1. 1 Purchasing an old iPhone from AT&T. They can be found on eBay for about $ 100, or even in one of your desk drawers.
2. 2 Purchase of a prepaid AT&T GoPhone kit. They are available from AT&T, eBay, Target, Best Buy and many other e-commerce retailers. The phone itself does not interest us, only the SIM card, so feel free to choose the cheapest option.

Tips

• SIM cards can also be purchased directly from AT&T stores for about $ 5. There you can also set up your account and deposit money in order not to perform additional manipulations through the phone.
• Another option: You can buy a prepaid package similar to GoPhone from the operator H2O Wireless. They have a contract with AT&T to use the AT&T network. Unlike AT&T, they won't mind if you want to use your own unlocked iPhone. Buy a SIM card directly from H2O Wireless or eBay. Make sure it is a micro SIM card.
• AT&T may find that you are using your iPhone improperly and block your account or present an invoice. But they may not find it!
• Using AT&T, you may want to purchase a data package or messages, but for that data to work, you need to change the APN.
• If you want to use a T-Mobile SIM, you need an unlocked iPhone.

Warnings

• There are no SIM cards available for Verizon iPhones.
• For users of tariff plans with Internet access from T-Mobile: you will only have access to the Edge network; T-Mobile's 3G service does not work on iPhones.
