In Minecraft, gold can be used to craft tools and armor. Of course, due to its low strength, gold is much less useful than most other materials, but it can still be useful. This article will tell you how to find gold.

Method 1 of 3: Finding Ore (PC and Consoles)

1. 1 Take an iron or diamond pickaxe. You cannot mine gold ore with another pickaxe.
2. 2 Dig a mine. By the way, it is better to dig at an angle to avoid falling. As you travel through the caves, leave a trail of torches behind you.
3. 3 Check your coordinates. Gold ore occurs below 31 layers. To see if you have reached the required level, click F3if playing on a computer, or open the map if playing on a console. The y-axis is the depth, and it will tell you which layer you are on. But which layers are the most interesting for a gold miner:
   • Layer 28 is the highest and safest of all, where you can find the maximum gold.
   • Layers 11-13 are great if you are looking for diamonds and gold together. It is better not to go below the 10th layer, lava is too often found there.
4. 4 Dig out branches from the main shaft of the mine. The best way to find gold is to dig the main shaft of the mine and then dig the branches leading from it (1 block wide, 2 high). As a rule, gold is deposited in deposits of 4 to 8 blocks. In other words, if you keep the distance of three blocks between the branches, you will find all the gold in the area of ​​the mine!
   • To find all the gold ("all" from the word "completely"), then dig the branches at a distance of two blocks from each other.
5. 5 Explore the features of the game. Digging, you can stumble upon a fortress, a dungeon or an abandoned mine shaft. Why are they interesting? There may be a chest with gold and even much more valuable items!

Method 2 of 3: Finding Gold (Pocket Edition)

1. 1 Find a plateau. This biome looks like a desert with red, often striped hills or peaks. These biomes hide something special under them, which we will discuss below and which can only be found in versions of Minecraft Pocket Edition.
2. 2 Dig at any level. In this biome, gold can be found at any depth. Accordingly, Digging the Highlands in Pocket Edition is the safest and most reliable way to mine gold. Dig into hills or just walk around and look for traces of ore.
3. 3 Look for abandoned mines. In such a biome, there are only abandoned mines located above the ground. They contain mining carts with chests inside, and with a 25% chance there will be gold there! And by the way - beware of the spiders.

Method 3 of 3: Applying Gold Ore

1. 1 Smelt gold bars. To get the ingots that can be used, you will need to place the ore in the furnace - by analogy with iron. However, do not waste ingots on tools or armor, as they are weaker than iron. Better to use gold on more dodgy items!
2. 2 Make a watch. Red stone - in the center of the workbench, gold - one ingot at the top, bottom, left and right. This will create a clock that will tell you the time of day.
   • A wall clock can be made by hanging a frame (8 sticks and 1 leather) on the wall and putting a clock in it.
3. 3 Electric rails. Put the stick in the middle of the workbench, place the columns on the left and right in gold (6 ingots in total), put a red stone on the bottom. The trolley will go on the electric rails by itself - if, of course, they are powered by a torch or a circuit made of red stone.
4. 4 Gold pressure panels. If you want the redstone outline to activate when something falls or passes over it, make a pressure panel from two ingots (they must be placed next to each other, and at the same level).
5. 5 Golden apples. One apple - to the center of the workbench, fill all other cells of the workbench with gold ingots. This will create a golden apple, a great item for healing and protection that can be eaten even when completely full.
   • In most versions of the game, you can make an even more powerful apple, the Notch Apple, if you use blocks of gold instead of gold bars (see below). However, this recipe will disappear in Minecraft 1.9.
6. 6 Blocks of gold. You can show off your wealth if you use a workbench to turn gold bars into a block. The resulting bright yellow cube will be extremely decorative items.
7. 7 Nuggets. Gold nuggets can be made from one ingot, for this you need a workbench. You can use nuggets in different ways:
   • Shining Watermelon: A piece of watermelon completely surrounded by nuggets. Used for potions.
   • Golden Carrot: Carrot surrounded by nuggets. Used for potions, food and horse breeding / healing.
   • Fireworks in the form of stars: put any paint in the center of the workbench, put gunpowder to the left of it, and a gold nugget above the paint, which will give the fireworks the shape of a star.
