The most prominent feature of the Snapchat smartphone app is the ability to send text and picture messages that can be deleted on their own, to prevent others from discovering the message or picture. However, this ability to self-delete will not help if you accidentally post photos in your story or mistakenly send it to someone else. You can refer to Step 1 below to learn about how to remove snap, whether they are on your phone or someone else's. Note, there is no way to delete Snapchat that others have viewed.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Snap "Your Story" (Your Story)
Open Snapchat from the app on your phone screen. To begin the process of deleting snapshots from stories, you will need to open the Snapchat app. Usually, you just need to look for the yellow Snapchat icons on your phone's home screen.
Click the "My Friends" icon in the lower right corner. When the phone camera activates, click on the three white horizontal bars in the lower right corner of the screen. This will take you to the My Friends page, which will list all of your contacts and their stories.
Click on your name at the top of the contact list. At the top of the page will display the username you chose when you created your Snapchat account. If there are photos on your story, you will see a small circle with the oldest photo in the story next to your name. Click on your name to continue.
Find the image you want to delete in your story. When you click on your name, a drop-down menu will appear. At the top of the menu bar is information about the "score" of Snapchat and friends you send and Snapchat. Each image in your story will be listed in order from new to old. Then, find the picture in the story that you want to delete.
Click the "gear" icon next to each photo, then press Delete. When you click on each item in the list of pictures in the story a small pie icon will appear. Click this gear icon, then choose "Delete". This way, the photo will be removed from your story.
- Note, if someone is viewing your story, chances are they saved your picture or used screen capture mode. Therefore, you must delete the photo as quickly as possible.
Method 2 of 3: Snap sent
Proceed quickly. This method includes deleting your Snapchat account to prevent others from seeing the snap you sent them. This is completely useless if someone has viewed your snap, so time is of the essence. This method should try as soon as possible right after sending the wrong snap.
- Note, you can see the status of sent snaps (whether they are open or not) through the Snapchat menu, by accessing the square icon in the lower left corner of the screen.
Visit Snapchat's online help page. Access the support on the official Snapchat website using a computer or smartphone with a network connection. From this page, use the navigation options in the left-hand corner of the screen to access the account deletion page. You need to click on "Learning the Basics", then select "Account Settings", and finally click "Delete an account".
Provide your username and password. At the account deletion screen, will display a request to provide the username and password of the account. Enter the information in the respective text boxes.
Click on "Delete My Account". When you are sure you want to delete the account, click the big teal button below the username and password box. Note that this process cannot be undone, so once you have done this, you will need to create a new account if you want to use Snapchat again.
- If your account is deleted before the recipient opens the snap, they won't be able to see the snap, as it won't appear in their inbox. Note that this method cannot delete a snap that is already open.
Method 3 of 3: Snap is saved
Access to the Application Store of the smartphone. There have been many posts recently that have caught attention stating that Snapchat does not really delete user's profile pictures as they are submitted. In fact, with the ingenious method, you can actually access this old snap. If you are concerned about privacy, you might consider using the cache clearing app to delete files from your device. To install this app, go to the smartphone's app store (for example, Google Play Store, Apple's App Store, etc.)
Download and install a cache cleaner app. There are plenty of free apps out there, you can choose any one. This app allows you to erase the phone's internal storage, for example deleting stored Snapchat files. However, because there are so many different types of apps that clear the cache, the instructions are slightly different. You can refer to each app's official website for more details.
- The cache cleaner for Android is usually Master Cleaner, which is quick to install, easy to use and completely free. If you use iOS, you can download the iCleaner app.
Use the app to clear phone cache. Most cache clearing apps have an intuitive user interface that allows users to clear the entire phone cache or clear "junk" files associated with one or more applications. In this case, you will often target Snapchat apps to remove junk files.
- On the delete snap saved item, most cache clear apps can also help your phone clear these snapshots by freeing up memory and handling power.
