  • Over 92% of Portland cement made in Vietnam is grade 1, 2, or 3. Type 2 is specifically designed to resist sulfate attack, while type 3 is often used for early strength enhancement.
  • Buy cement with fine sand and crushed stone. You will need to buy two parts sand and three parts stone to get the right cement mix.
  • Arrange things out, including: mixing materials, wheelbarrows carry heavy loads because the mixture will be very heavy after mixing.

  • Open bags of cement, crushed stone and sand used to mix mortar. Use a small shovel to shovel into the wheelbarrow in the proportion of 1 part cement, 2 parts sand and 3 parts crushed rock.
    • For example, a full wheelbarrow would contain 2 cement shovels, 4 sand shovels and 6 stone shovels. If you need more amount of cement then the ratio would be 4 cement shovels, 8 sand shovels and 12 stone shovels.
  • Mix the materials evenly using a shovel, making sure they blend well. Although the materials will then be mixed, it is advisable to mix well when dry before adding water. advertisement
  • Method 2 of 2: Fill the Dry Mix with Water

    1. Pour a small amount of water, about the size of a 20L bucket, into the wheelbarrow. Be sure to measure a known mass so that you can correctly rework the following batches of grout.
      • If pouring water into the bucket before mixing it into the dry mixture, mark the water level on the sides of the bucket. This way, you can quickly fill the bucket with water without measuring the amount of water each time a new batch is mixed.

      • Cement containing too much water is only half the hardness of properly mixed cement. While trying to pay attention to the amount of water, the suitability of the solidity of the structure should also be taken into account. Be sure to read the manufacturer's instructions when adding the correct amount of water.

    2. Start with 3/4 of the dry mixture. In a wheelbarrow or other mortar mixer, mix about 3/4 of the dry mixture with water. The first mixing will create a soup-like liquid because there is too much water, but it will be easy to mix. For best results use a rake to mix.
    3. After kneading thoroughly, add 1/4 of the dry mixture to the liquid cement mixture. The mixing will be more difficult but using the appropriate rake will make the job easier. Mix until the final cement mixture is thick and wet, but not as loose as before.
    4. Pour cement mixture into the construction area immediately. This step should be completed as soon as possible after mixing.
    5. Clean the tools as quickly as possible. Ideally one cleaner and another with grouting. If this is not possible, pour water into a wheelbarrow or cement container right away. Then scrub them with a stiff bristle brush until the cement is removed.
      • Pour cement washing water in a discreet place, where there is no grass (because the grass will die). You can even dig a small hole to fill it up with water.

    Advice

    • If your project requires 1 or 2 trucks or more, consider hiring a movable mortar mixer from your local tool supplier to ensure the cement has an even adhesion.
    • If the cement mixture doesn't look right, consider adding a little more water. The most common problem when mixing cement is low water to cement ratio.
    • Read the manufacturer's instructions on the package before mixing. It is possible that the product line you use has specific requirements that you need to comply with.
    • Use a small shovel because you need to knead the cement continuously and a larger shovel will be difficult.

    Warning

    • Newly mixed mortar will burn your skin and eyes if it stays on for too long. To protect yourself, be sure to wear rubber boots, wear long clothing, and goggles.
