This article shows you how to hide behind the shield in Grand Theft Auto V. These methods can be applied to both the familiar third-person version and the remastered version of the first-person view. GTA 5.

Steps

1. 

   Reach behind the object you could hide. There are a few things you can use as a shield like:
   • Corner
   • Box
   • Car
   • Low wall

   Face the shield. Your character needs to face the object you plan to hide from behind.

3. 

   Press the "Hide" button. This button will differ depending on the Grand Theft Auto 5 you are playing:
   • On a personal computer - Press Q.
   • On Xbox - Press RB.
   • On PlayStation - Press R1.

   Peeking out from the shield. Holding down the "Aim" button - right click on a PC or the left Trigger button on a handheld game console - lets you peek around or look up on a cover.
   • If you release your hand from the "Aim" button, you will return to cover.

   Shoot from behind the shield. When pressing the "Shoot" button on the console - left click on the PC or the right Trigger button on the console - your character will shoot from above or around the shield without extending or output.
   • If you aim before shooting, you can shoot more accurately but reveal part of the body when shooting.

6. 

   Press the "Hide" button again. This is a step to help you get out of hiding.
   • You can also leave the cover by walking.

Advice

• Hiding behind a shield greatly increases your chances of survival, especially when choosing a high difficulty.

Warning

• You may not always be able to hide behind objects that look like a shield.
