Use a fork to put a few small holes in the potato. This will allow the steam to escape and prevent the potato from exploding in the microwave. You should use a fork 3-4 times on the ends and sides of the potato. Or you can use a knife to form a letter X deep at the tip of the potato.
Microwave and choose a baking time. The baking time will depend on the size of the potato and the power level of the microwave. It usually takes 8-12 minutes to bake medium to large potatoes in Full Power mode.
- Place the potatoes in the oven for 5 minutes, then remove and turn over so the potatoes are evenly cooked on both sides. Microwave the dish and bake for another 3-5 minutes, depending on how tender it is. Then, if the potatoes are not fully cooked, cook for 1 more minute and repeat until the potatoes are fully cooked.
- If you cook more than one potato at a time, you will need to increase the baking time by 2/3 times. For example, if baking a large potato takes 10 minutes, then you need 16-17 minutes to bake 2 bulbs.
- If you like to eat crispy potatoes, you can microwave them for 5-6 minutes and then transfer them to a baking tray to bake in the oven on 200 ° C for 20 minutes. This method is great if you want the peels to be as crisp as the oven baked in half the time normal.
Check to see if the potato is ripe. You can place a fork in the center of the potato to see if it's done. If the plate is easy to penetrate and the center of the potato is still a little firm, the potato is ready to go. If you are unsure, it's also best to remove the slightly raw potatoes as overcooked potatoes will burn or explode in the microwave.
- If you want to save potatoes for late consumption, wrap them in foil to keep them warm for a long time. Be sure to wrap it in foil as soon as you take the potato out of the oven to keep as much heat as possible.
Advice
- Some microwaves have a “Bake Potato” mode. You can choose this mode if you are unsure.
- If you are in a hurry, you can chop the potatoes as soon as the microwave stops, then sprinkle the ingredients (as you want) and microwave for the last 30-60 seconds.
- Using a spinning turntable will help the baked potatoes cook evenly. If you don't have this type of turntable, it's a good idea to stop the microwave to turn the potatoes over twice while baking. Divide the baking time into 3 equal parts to know when to turn the potato over.
- Increase the microwave oven baking time if a lower power level is selected. Baking time will be extended by a half if 800W capacity is selected.
- Use parchment paper to wrap potatoes as they are reusable.
- You can "boil" the potatoes to puree this way. Choose thin-skinned potatoes and be careful not to let them dry. It is better to use plastic wrapping paper or "boil" many bulbs at once.
- Wrap the potatoes in plastic wrapping paper to prevent them from drying out.
- Before slicing a ripe potato into four parts, press it against the tuber with your fist. Then press on the other sides of the potato. Next, make a small groove on one end of the potato. Use your fingers (both hands) to grasp the ends of the potato (vertically, small groove facing up) and then push down with the upper hand. Finally, use your hand under the soft potato to let it rise up and out of the groove.
- Use a toothpick to put a hole in the potato to see if it's done.
Warning
- The baking dish will be very hot, so use a towel or glove to remove it from the oven.
- Do not use foil to wrap potatoes while they are in the oven or baking; Doing so will cause sparks to shoot and damage the inside surface of the microwave.
