A lot of people want a blue check mark (the symbol of verification) next to their Instagram account name. However, being verified on Instagram is relatively difficult. Instagram chooses the account itself for verification, and users can't submit any request forms. Instagram usually verifies accounts of famous people and some business accounts. However, your efforts also increase your chances of getting verification. Proactively interact with other users and get some attention through other social networks. If not verified, do not worry as there are still many ways for other users to know your account is the owner.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Engage followers
Use popular hashtags (#). A common way for users to find accounts on Instgram is through the hashtag. Using popular hashtags will help other users find your post. If users like your posts, they will decide to follow you.
- Popular Instagram hashtags include #love, #ootd (short for “outfit of the day), #photooftheday, and #instagood.
- You should also use hashtags related to your personal brand or corporate brand. For example, if you are a comedian, you can use hashtags related to your performance.
- Pay attention to popular trends. If a bulletin board has just covered an event, many people often use the relevant hashtag to discuss the issue.
Interact with other users. Interaction is the best way to increase followers on Instagram. To increase followers, you will like the photos that you see when you click on hashtags. Sincerely comment on other users' accounts. This will encourage others to follow you.- Avoid posting automated comments. Other people will be annoyed when you post comments like “Nice picture. Watch me! ”. Instead, write comments regarding photos and let others decide to follow you. Example: “The cat is so cute. I really like calico cats! ”.
Promote your Instagram account on other social networks. If your other social media accounts are well known, you can link them to your Instagram account. If you have a lot of followers on Twitter, be sure to share Instagram photos on your Twitter page. You can also use the Instragram app to link your Instagram account with Twitter, Facebook and other social networks.

Prove that your account is the owner. Instagram only does verification when they believe it's your real account, not a fake one. To increase your chances of being verified, you should post articles that can prove to be your real account.
- Links with other verified social media accounts. If you regularly post Instagram photos on a verified Twitter account, this will help you prove your identity.
- Post your own photos. Anybody can take regular landscape photos; therefore, it's a good idea to post personal content to increase your chances of account verification.
Verify your Facebook account. Verifying a business or personal Facebook account can increase the likelihood of being verified on Instagram. If you own a dedicated Facebook page for your personal or business, go to "Settings". Click "General", followed by "Page verification" and finally "Get started". You will have to provide your phone number to Facebook to send you a verification code for you to enter the requested page. After this step, Facebook will process your account verification request.
- Similar to Instagram, you should post personal content to prove your account is the owner.
Promote your account on other social networking sites. As you know, Instagram only chooses to verify a few accounts. Often times, people of the public or Internet celebrities will have the opportunity to be verified on Instagram. Particularly businesses must be known to many people to have a chance to verify their accounts. So, you also need to increase the number of followers outside of Instagram. The more popular you or your business is, the easier it is for your Instagram account to get verified.
- Sites like YouTube allow you to post your own video content. Try posting shareable video content like reviews of listings and products. If you are building a brand, you should create a YouTube channel to increase popularity.
- If you're an artist, like a singer or comedian, you can post your performance on YouTube and advertise on sites like Twitter. This way, you will get more followers on these pages, making you more popular.
Find another way to prove your account is official. Instagram only verifies your account if you are public and well-known. Individuals and businesses are often less likely to be verified. If you feel that Instagram won't verify your account, try other methods to let viewers know your account is real.

- Share Instagram posts with other social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook.
Part 3 of 3: Avoid negative actions
Don't buy followers. Some sites allow you to buy virtual followers to quickly increase followers. Instagram is often cautious with the verification process and it will be easy to spot your buying virtual followers. While you think buying virtual followers will quickly help your account be verified, in reality Instagram won't.
Delete automatic comments. Virtual accounts sometimes randomly follow real accounts and may post automatic comments under your photos. These comments are bad for your account as it looks like you bought a virtual follower even though you didn't. If you detect any automatic comments from virtual accounts, you should delete it immediately.
- Auto comments are generally general content. You will see comments like "Sweet pic!" (Nice picture!) Or "Nice!" (Beautiful!) Regularly posted from the same account. Those are virtual accounts and it's best to delete those comments.
View and comply with Instagram community rules. Instagram will not verify accounts that are not in compliance with community regulations. Read the instructions carefully and make sure you don't post any content that goes against the rules and leaves you in trouble.
- Only post and share videos that you have the right to share. Do not post pirated information.
- Avoid posting nudity or content that is inappropriate for fine traditions.
- Don't post illegal content.
- Only write meaningful, respectful comments under other people's posts.
