This wikiHow teaches you how to check for different signs that you've been blocked by a WhatsApp contact (for Android). There is no way to know for sure when blocked, but you can look at a few clues to figure out your case.

Steps

  1. Open WhatsApp Messenger on your device. The WhatsApp icon has a green dialogue bubble with a white phone above it.

  2. Click on the card CHATS (Chat). If WhatsApp opens up another tab, tap the CHATS tab in the navigation panel at the top of the screen to see a list of all recent individual and group chats.
    • If WhatsApp opens up a conversation then tap the back button in the upper left corner of the screen to return to the CHATS pane.

  3. Scroll down and tap a conversation. Find a chat with the person you think blocked you, then tap to open the chat screen.
  4. Send a message to that person. Enter a text message or select a file and send it to the person.

  5. Check the check mark below the message. If this person blocks you, the message might not be sent. You will only see a gray tick below the message in the chat box instead of two.
    • Just seeing a tick doesn't mean you're blocked. The message may not have been sent due to poor transmission. If you are unsure, then you can check to see if the message was only being sent slowly, or send a new one.
    • If this person blocks you, they won't receive any messages from you even if they unblock you later.
  6. Check the person's profile picture. If you are blocked, you will see a gray person's head next to the person's name above the conversation instead of their profile picture.
    • Maybe this WhatsApp user chooses not to use the profile picture, or they just deleted it (if any). If you are blocked you will definitely see a gray head icon, but just because you see a gray shadow instead of your avatar doesn't mean you're blocked.
  7. Check information of that person's last message. If blocked, you can't see last view info below the username at the top of the conversation. Next to your profile picture or below your name, no additional information about your online times is available.
    • It is possible that this WhatsApp user disables the last viewed or online information display in their Settings. You won't be able to see this person's last view if you are blocked, but assuming you don't see it doesn't mean you're blocked.
  8. Ask if they will block you from meeting. The only way to know for sure if you're blocked is to ask the subject directly. Additionally, there is no sure way to know this. advertisement
