This article will help you learn how to hide your date of birth on Facebook. You can change birth date settings on the Facebook page and on the phone app.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Do it on a computer
Open Facebook. Go to https://www.facebook.com/ in the browser on your computer. Facebook will display the News Feed page if you are logged in.
- If you aren't logged in, enter your email address and password in the box at the top right corner of the page and click Log In (Log in).
Click your name tag in the top-right corner of your Facebook page to open your profile.- Name tags also display your current avatar in small size.
Click About (Introduction) at the bottom of the cover photo near the top of your personal page.
Click Contact and Basic Info (Basic information and contact) on the left side of the page.
Scroll down to the "Basic Info" heading and position your mouse pointer at "Birth Date". The Basic Information section is below the "Websites and Social Links" section. When you hover over the "Date of Birth" section, you will see a selection Edit (Edit).
Click Edit (Edit) to the right of your date of birth. The "Date of Birth" section expands and shows some privacy settings.
Click the humanoid icon. This option is directly to the right of your month of birth and year of birth. After clicking, a selection list will appear.
Click Only me (Only me) to hide date of birth on my personal page.
- If you want to hide your year of birth, click the humanoid icon to the right of the year of birth and select Only me (Only me) in the currently displayed selection list.
Click Save Changes (Save changes). This way, your birthday will no longer show up on your profile page. advertisement
Method 2 of 2: Perform on the phone
Open Facebook. Tap on the Facebook logo with a white "f" on a blue background. This opens the Facebook News Feed section if you are logged in.
- If you aren't logged into Facebook, enter your email address (or phone number) and password and select Log In (Log in).
Select the profile page icon. It's the silhouette of a person below the screen (iPhone) or above the screen (Android). This will take you to your personal Facebook page.
- If you don't see this icon, tap it ☰ in the bottom-right corner of the screen (or in the top-right corner of your Android's screen), then tap your name above the menu that appears.
Choose Edit Profile (Edit profile). You'll find this tag below the cover photo near the top of your profile page.
Scroll down and select Edit Your About Info (Edit introduction information) at the bottom of the page. The screen will display a list of your personal information.
Scroll down to the "Basic Info" heading in the center of the page.
Choose Edit (Edit) to the right of the "Basic Info" heading.
Tap the "Privacy" icon. It's the humanoid icon to the right of the "Birthday" heading near the top of the page. You will see a drop-down menu after clicking it.
Choose Only me (Only me) in the selection list. This will hide your date and month of birth on your profile page.
- If you don't see an option Only me in the list you will choose More Options (More options) then select Only me.
Hide your year of birth. If you don't want others to know your year of birth, you can tap the "Privacy" icon to the right of this info, then choose Only me in the selection list.
- Again, you may have to choose Other options before choosing Only me.
Scroll down and select Save (Save). It's a blue button at the bottom of the page. This will save your changes and hide your date of birth on your profile. advertisement
Advice
- Hiding your birthday on your personal page means that no one else will receive your birthday notification, and it doesn't show up on your iOS or Google calendar.
Warning
- Changing your date of birth from "Public" to "Friends" will not hide your date of birth on your profile.
