This article shows you how to check how Random Access Memory is installed on your computer or iPad. RAM is partly responsible for making sure open programs run properly.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: On Windows

1. 

   . Click the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen.

   . Click the gear icon in the lower left corner of the window Start. This will open the Settings window.

   . Click the Apple logo in the top left corner of the screen. A menu will appear here.

   Search for Smart Memory Lite application. Tap the search bar in the upper-right corner of the screen, and then type smart memory lite and touch the button Search The blue (Search) bottom right corner of the keyboard.
   • If you don't see the search bar, first make sure you have the correct tab open by touching Featured (Featured) in the lower left corner of the screen.

   Find an application called "Smart Memory Lite". Often times you will see the name of the application near the top of the search results.

   Touch GET (Take). This is the option to the right of the Smart Memory Lite app.

   Enter Touch ID when prompted. Scan the Touch ID fingerprint to allow iPad to download apps.
   • If your iPad doesn't use Touch ID, you'll touch it Install (Settings) is at the bottom of the screen when asked and enter your Apple ID password.

   Open Smart Memory Lite. Please touch OPEN (Open) in the App Store after the application completes downloading, or touch the icon of the computer chip of the Smart Memory Lite application.

    See the total amount of RAM for your iPad. In the lower-right corner of the screen, you'll see a circle with a number inside - this is the total amount of RAM installed on the iPad.
    • Unlike most computers, you cannot install more RAM on an iPad.

    Check the amount of RAM in use of your iPad. Blue, red, green, and gray bars displayed near the bottom of the screen show the distribution of the iPad's currently used RAM, the fixed amount of RAM, the amount of free RAM and the amount of RAM used by the system.
    • You can also see the actual percentage of RAM in use on your iPad on the right side of the screen.

Advice

• The Smart Memory Lite app is available on iPad and iPhone.
• RAM, also known as "clipboard," is not the same as a hard drive; Hard drive is often understood as "the place to store data".
• You can also check your computer's hard drive capacity.

Warning

• 32-bit version computers can only use RAM with a maximum capacity of 4GB; therefore, equipping the RAM with a larger capacity will only waste you money.
