This wikiHow teaches you how to restart Firefox on your computer into Safe Mode built into the browser. This setting disables all add-ons when Firefox starts. You can restart Firefox into Safe Mode if the browser is open, or use a keyboard shortcut or a command line program on your computer to force Firefox to open directly into Safe Mode. Note: you cannot start Firefox into Safe Mode on a smartphone or tablet.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Start Firefox in Safe Mode

   . Click the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen. A window will pop up.

   Command Prompt appears at the top of the Start window.

   . Click the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner of the screen. A text box will appear.

   Terminal when the program appears in the application list.

   Enter the Firefox Safe Mode command. Enter the command /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -safe-mode into Terminal.

   Press ⏎ Return to execute the command.

   Click Start in Safe Mode when the option appears. This will confirm your choice and open Firefox in Safe Mode, at which point you can troubleshoot the extension if necessary. advertisement

• Resetting Firefox will wipe all of your settings, extensions, and browser data.
