Part 1 of 2: Assessment of the situation

  1. Continue or leave the friendship behind. The solution may be difficult. Sometimes friends grow apart. So, if your friends confirm that they are ignoring you because you have little in common with them anymore, it may be time to let go of such friendships. If your friends don't understand your feelings and aren't willing to find a way to improve the situation or the friendship, chances are they just don't want to. While it's a hard life lesson to go through, your circle of friends will change over time. The good news is that there is a whole world out there where you can make new friendships!

Warnings

  • If you find that ignoring turns into bullying, enlist your teacher, counselor, parents, or another counselor to help you. Constant threats, mockery, teasing, or stalking by others is unacceptable behavior - these are forms of emotional abuse.
