This wikiHow shows you how to give your Sims the inspired emotion in The Sims 4. Inspiration is helpful for Sims who write, play musical instruments, and perform other creative activities.

To step

  1. Select the Sim you want to make inspired. Open the household they are in and select their portrait.
  2. Make your sim happy. Before your Sim can be inspired, they must be happy. Some things you can do to make your Sim happy include:
    • Get rid of previous negative emotions. If your Sim's predominant emotion is a negative one (e.g., embarrassed), you must first do something about that emotion.
    • A Sim's mood becomes tense, uncomfortable, or sad when their motives are low. Having high motives gives a Sim a happy mood.
    • Tap into the Sim's senses. Have them eat a good meal, have a good drink, listen to the radio or step into a nicely decorated room.
    • You can use cheats if you prefer. Press Ctrl+⇧ Shift+C., typ testingcheats true, and press ↵ Enter. Then click with ⇧ Shift on your sim and select Make happy.

Tip: Once your Sim is inspired, all happy moods will "feed" the inspired emotion, boosting it.

  3. Have your Sim perform an inspiring activity. Once your Sim is happy, certain activities will give them an inspired mood. Some examples of inspiring activities are:
    • Taking a thoughtful shower
    • Using the molding clay
    • Watching art on the computer View art
    • Researching an instrument on the computer
    • Pick, strum or bow for guitar, piano or violin inspiration
    • To be guided in a creative skill. Children can be encouraged while drawing for the same effect.
    • Listen to a child's fantasy story or listen to a Sim getting excited about Iambic Pentameter
    • Daydream (Child Sims only; must have level 5 creativity)
    • Play with a large animal toy (child Sims only)
    • Have a cappuccino in a cafe (in Get Together)
    • Star gazing or cloud gazing (in Outdoor Retreat)
    • Telling a fairytale by the campfire (in Outdoor Retreat)
    • Do brain-stimulating yoga (in Spa Day)
  4. Use career-related or skill-specific inspirational activities. If your sim has certain traits, has reached a certain skill level, or is on a certain career path, there are specific interactions that will inspire him. A few examples:
    • Foodie Sims can research recipes on the computer or watch cooking shows.
    • Music Lover Sims can listen to music deeply.
    • Bookworms can analyze books.
    • Sims with little painting or writing skills can finish paintings or books.
    • Sims with a certain skill level (Level 2 for Musical Instruments, Level 8 for Gourmet Cooking) can research the skill online.
    • Sims with level 6 guitar skill can play the guitar, and Sims with high mixology skill can mix potions.
  5. Place objects with emotional auras in the room. Certain objects have emotional auras that span about nine tiles, so being near that object can give your Sim the mood that goes with that emotion. Place the object in the room, select it in Live mode and click Enable Emotional Aura. Some objects with Emotional Auras include:
    • Masterpiece pumpkins
    • Postcards
    • Emotional paintings
    • Career Rewards from the Culinary, Painter or Writer career paths
    • Suggestive Lime Incense (in Spa Day)
    • Reward Lamps from Sims 3 Ambitions or Supernatural

Tip: If you don't want to turn on the emotional aura, your Sim will still get the mood when interacting with the object.

  6. Raise your Sim's Mood to Very Inspired. If your Sim has eight or more Positive Moods, such as six Happy Moods and two Inspired Moods, they will change from Inspired to Very Inspired. Being highly inspired will boost your Sim's creative skills, such as improving their paintings or meals.

Tips

  • If your Sim is inspired to work, they can get a performance boost working in the Culinary, Entertainer, Painter, or Writer careers.
  • Sims with the Creative Trait can be randomly set to an Inspired Vibe.
  • If your sim has the Muse trait, he will develop creative skills more quickly if he is inspired or very inspired.
  • If you have level 10 of the Mixology ability or the Potion Master reward trait, your Sim can access an inspired potion.
  • When a Sim who was inspired is spit out by a Cowplant, the Cowplant can then be milked for an Essence of Inspiration (which will give your Sim an inspired mood).
  • Some in-game interactions have a random chance to give your Sim an inspired mood, such as having your Sim listen to jazz or classical music, or have them look at art. Child and teen Sims also have a chance to come home from school inspired.
