Tagaytay is part of Cavite Province in the south of the Philippines. It has a mild climate and breathtaking scenery. People from all walks of life come to this unique place to enjoy the beautiful view of the famous Taal Lake. It's easy to get to Tagaytay, especially from the capital, Manila.

Method 1 of 4: By bus

1. Go to the Araneta bus station in Cubao, Quezon City. From Quezon City there are several bus routes to Tagaytay. They depart from the Araneta Bus Terminal in Cubao.
   • Quezon City is approximately 10 kilometers from Manila.
   • The Araneta terminal in Cubao is an important bus station. It is easily accessible by train from Manila and several other major cities in the Philippines.
2. Decide which bus to take. There are several bus routes that travel to Tagaytay. Look for bus signs that read "Nasugbu-Tagaytay".
   • The two bus routes to Tagaytay are Erjohn & Almark and San Augustin.
   • Buses run to Tagaytay approximately every 30 minutes. Don't rely solely on the schedule. Departure is often influenced by the weather. Buses can also leave early when they get full.
3. Pay the driver. You need pesos to pay the bus driver. The rate will be about 120 pesos, which equals about € 2 to € 3.
   • You may want to contact the bus service in advance to find out exactly how much you need.
4. Drive to Olivarez Plaza. Tagaytay does not have a bus station. Buses stop in Olivarez Plaza. There will be taxis that can take you anywhere in the city if you wish.

Method 2 of 4: Rent a car

1. Go to the airport. You can rent a car in many places in Manila that will take you to Tagaytay. However, the private cars that can take you to Tagaytay often gather near the airport, so it's easiest from there.
2. Rent a private car or FX. Taxis from the airport have regulated rates that make them more expensive than other options. A private car or an FX (a taxi-like van) hired just outside the airport is a more economical option.
3. Pay the driver. You should be able to rent a FX for around $ 30. Don't be afraid to negotiate the price. For € 30 you should be able to come to Tagaytay anyway, and maybe hire a driver for the whole day.
   • It's not uncommon for drivers to ask you to pay for fuel. This should not be more than 1,000 pesos.

Method 3 of 4: Drive yourself

1. Get on the South Luzon Expressway (SLE). From Manila, the South Luzon Expressway (formerly known as the South Superhighway) is the easiest way to get to Tagaytay by car. The SLE usually has the least traffic coming from Manila.
2. Take the Santa Rosa exit. Get off the SLE at the Santa Rosa exit. You have to stop to pay toll.
   • In a regular car or jeep the toll should be less than 60 pesos. Larger vehicles pay a higher toll.
3. Drive to Tagaytay Market Square. After paying the toll, turn right. Then follow the road until you reach Tagaytay City market square.
   • The market is the entrance to Tagaytay. It takes about 20 minutes to get there from the Santa Rosa exit.

Method 4 of 4: See the city

1. Explore Tagaytay. However you choose to travel to Tagaytay, you'll need a way to get around the city once you arrive. There are two primary modes of travel in Tagaytay:
   • You can rent a Jeepney. The most common mode of transport in Tagaytay, like many cities in the Philippines, is colorful, jeep-like vehicles called Jeepneys. Tell the driver where you want to go and ask how much it costs.
   • You can also rent a tricycle. These are human powered vehicles that are good for shorter journeys. However, they are usually limited to side streets in Tagaytay.
2. Find some food. Tagaytay has a wide variety of options available for dining. They range from gourmet restaurants to different forms of street food.
   • Tagaytay's specialty dish is a warm bowl of bulalo. This is a type of beef stalk soup that is very popular in the area.
   • Another popular local option is to visit a carinderia or "turo-turo". These are affordable local eateries where food options are on display in large pots or trays. Customers simply indicate what they want to eat, a kind of cafeteria.
   • Tagaytay also has a wide variety of traditional sit-down restaurants that cater to almost every taste and national cuisine. If you're in the mood for a burger or Chinese food, these and many other options are available.
3. Check out the sights. There are many fun things to see and do in Tagaytay. It's a good idea to check out a guidebook before you go, but here are a few popular attractions:
   • Nurture Wellness Village is a popular place for spa treatments. It also offers dining options and accommodations.
   • Skyfun Park is an amusement park that includes a giant Ferris wheel called "Sky Eye".
   • If you prefer the outdoors, Tagaytay has many attractions you may find interesting, such as Picnic Grove and Sonya's Garden. You can also take a walk to the Taal volcano.
4. Spend the night. If you plan to spend the night in Tagaytay, there are many options available depending on your budget.
   • Tagaytay has several hotels that offer luxurious accommodations. This is by far the most expensive option. You can expect to spend about 3,000 pesos or more.
   • For private accommodations at a lower cost, there are places called "boarding houses," which are like cheap hotels. You have your own room and bathroom, but it is nothing special.
   • Tagaytay also has hostels, if you are traveling on a budget or traveling with a large group. It offers dormitory and private rooms with shared bathrooms. This is probably the cheapest option and also offers opportunities to meet other travelers.

Tips

• If you are going by bus, try to avoid the early morning and late afternoon rush hours to increase your chances of getting a seat.
• If you are going by car there are other routes you can take to get to Tagaytay. You can take the coast road through Imus, Dasmarinas and Silang Cavite. This route takes longer and has more traffic, but it is also much nicer.
• Inns and Cabanas are much cheaper than Tagaytay hotels. Pension houses can also be ideal.
