Thousands of years ago, Roman soldiers hopped to test their strength and speed, sometimes hopping over 100 feet while carrying heavy weights! Today, hopscotch is a fun outdoor game for kids (and playful adults) all over the world. Here's how to play this classic game, with some variations to make it more challenging.

Method 1 of 2: The classic hopscotch
- Set a time limit. Play a game of "speed hopscotch." The person has a set amount of time to complete the job, otherwise their turn passes. Or you can turn it into a race!
Tips
- You can use masking tape to make a hopscotch if you wish. It comes off easily and works well when you play indoors.
- The last square can be a "rest square" if you want to pause while hopping.
Warnings
- Don't play on gravel. You can lose your balance, which can be painful.
