This wikiHow shows you how to remove the voicemail icon from the notification bar at the top of your Android screen.

Part 1 of 2: Trying quick fixes

1. Restart your Android. Press and hold the power button on your Android until a menu appears, then tap the option Restarting to restart your Android. This can help reset processes that cause the voicemail notification to appear in the top left corner of your Android's screen.
   • Depending on your Android, you may have to press it twice Restarting to restart it.
2. Try to clear your Android's notifications. Unlock your Android and swipe down from the top of the screen to pull down the notification area, then tap the option To empty which is at the bottom.
   • Some Androids require you to swipe from top to bottom with two fingers.
3. Open your Android voicemail inbox. If clearing the notifications on your Android didn't clear up the voicemail icon, you will need to open your voicemail inbox to clear up any voicemail that is left behind. Depending on your Android, you can do this in one of the following ways:
   • Call the voicemail number provided by your provider.
   • From the Android's App Drawer, tap the Voicemail app icon.
4. Listen to any unopened voicemails. With the voicemail inbox open, listen for any unopened voicemail (s) displayed in the inbox.
5. Delete voicemails after listening. After playing each voicemail, as directed in the voicemail inbox, press "Delete."
   • If your Android has a Voicemail app, you should be able to delete a voicemail by long pressing it and then remove or tapping the trash can icon (or, in some cases, by tapping ⋮, edit , tap each voicemail and tap Delete tapping).

Part 2 of 2: Cleaning up the phone data

1. Open the Settings of your Android. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the gear-shaped "Settings" Scroll down and tap Apps. This is roughly in the middle of the Settings menu. This will open a list of the apps installed on your Android.
2. Scroll down and tap Phone. This is under the heading "P" in the list of apps.
3. Tap Storage. This is in the middle of the page of the Phone app.
4. Tap CLEAR DATA. This is at the top of the page.
5. Tap OK when prompted. This confirms your choice and removes any data associated with the Phone app. This should remove the voicemail app icon from the notification bar.
   • On a Samsung Galaxy, tap REMOVE when prompted.
6. Clean up the data from the Voicemail app if necessary. If your Android has a Voicemail app, you can clear the cache by choosing the Voicemail app from the list of apps in Settings, at CLEARING DATA clicking, and then OK or DELETE when prompted.
7. Call your provider to raise the issue. If the voicemail icon still hasn't disappeared from your Android's notification bar, the problem is likely a bug with your carrier. Calling your carrier, explaining the problem, and asking them to clear your voicemail should resolve the issue.
   • In order for your provider to address your voicemail issues, you will need your account login information.
   • If your carrier can't do anything about the voicemail icon, getting rid of it may require you to factory reset your Android. This will erase your Android's hard drive, so make sure to back up any data you want to keep before doing that.

Tips

• Sometimes issues with voicemail notifications are resolved by tapping the key, which the voicemail service on your Android tells you to press to hang up instead of the regular "End call" button.

Warnings

• Do not reset your Android to factory settings if you have not backed up the information on your Android (eg, contacts, photos, etc.).
