Eyeliner can be difficult to remove - it is so close to your lash line and can be smeared all over your eyes, or, if you are using waterproof eyeliner, it won't go away at all. Instead of giving up and waking up with raccoon eyes (or eyeliner all over your pillow), try these quick, easy methods that will get your eyelid clean and makeup-free in no time.

To step

Method 1 of 4: Using eye makeup remover

  1. Use an eye makeup remover that works with the type of eyeliner you wear. Use an oil-based remover to dissolve waterproof eyeliner. A two-phase makeup remover removes most eye makeup. Cleansing water is perfect for sensitive skin or eyeliner that is easy to remove, such as liquid liner.
  2. Choose a facial tissue that is free from alcohol and perfume. The makeup wipes designed to strip your entire face of makeup can be too harsh on the delicate skin around your eyes. Look for a cloth specifically designed for the skin around your eyes.
    • Sensitive baby wipes can sometimes be used to cleanse your face, but they are not designed to remove makeup. Try to focus on makeup removal wipes for best results.
  3. Spoon a little bit of petroleum jelly onto a cotton pad. Use a thin layer of petroleum jelly - it shouldn't be a big blob that falls right off the cotton pad.
    • Make sure to use a trustworthy brand with highly refined Vaseline. It is a by-product of oil purification and is found in varying degrees of purity. If not properly purified, it can contain harmful toxins.
  4. Use your fingertips to gently massage the oil over closed eyelids. Make sure to run your finger along your lash edges where you applied the eyeliner.
  5. Rinse to remove oil and eyeliner residue. The oil isn't harmful, but it can temporarily blur your vision if you get some in your eyes.

Warnings

  • Do not wash your face before removing the eyeliner; it will smear all over your face, and eventually you will have to exfoliate everything off.
  • If your hands start to shake, stop removing the eyeliner. You may be poking yourself in the eye.
