A pocket knife is a useful tool if you have to cut something on the go. Pocket knives come in different styles, with different locking mechanisms to secure the knives. Whatever kind of pocket knife you use, it can be easily closed and stored in your pocket, where it belongs.

Method 1 of 4: Close pocket knives without a lock

1. Hold the knife on the sides of the handle. Make sure your fingers are not over the slot where the knife will go. Hold the knife firmly, with your palm and thumb on one side and your fingertips on the other.
   • Always point the knife away from your body. That way the knife will fall off when your hands shoot away.
2. Release the pin to attach the knife. Once the knife is in the handle, release the pin to put tension back on the knife. The spindle lock securely holds the blade open or closed until the pin is pulled out again.
   • You can open the knife, but the tension of the omega spring makes that more difficult.

Warnings

• Watch your fingers. Make sure they are not in the path of the knife when you close the knife.
• Hold pocket knives so that the blades are facing away from your body.
