Drawing a cat is very easy. Follow these steps to learn to draw a cartoon character and a realistic cat.

Method 1 of 2: Draw a cartoon cat character

1. Draw the outline of the head and body.Use a circle for the head. Add a cross to the head. Under the head, draw an oval for the body of the cat.
2. Make the eyes by drawing two small circles, sketch the nose and the mouth.Sketch two half almond shapes protruding from each side of the head.
3. Outline the cat's limbs, round the back leg.
4. Sketch the tail, make it long and curved.
5. Darken the eyes and add whiskers. You can also draw a band around the neck.
6. Sketch the body and add some furry details.
7. Color the cat.

Method 2 of 2: Draw a realistic cat

1. Sketch the outline of the body. Sketch a circle for the head and draw a cross in it. Use a much larger circle for the body and draw a curved line on the back.
2. Sketch the contours of the face. Thicken the cheeks and the ears protruding on either side of the head.
3. Add two small ovals at the bottom of the head, connecting them with a curved line.These will be the support lines to draw the nose and mouth. Draw a few more ovals on the bottom of the body and add a long rectangle on one side.
4. Draw details in the face. Make the eyes almond shaped, draw the nose and frame the face by making small lines that make the cat appear furry.
5. Add the whiskers and eyebrows with longer stripes.
6. Sketch the limbs, tail and nails. Put small strokes to make it look hairy.
7. Sketch the rest of the body with small lines.
8. Erase unnecessary lines and color in the drawing.
