Wrapping a gift is a nice gesture that shows someone how much you care. It's easy to wrap a gift if you fold and cut the paper properly. When you're done wrapping, you can give the gift a unique touch by adding bows and decorations. When you are done with that, you have a wonderful gift to give to a loved one.

To step

Method 1 of 4: Measure the paper

  1. Remove the price tags. Leaving the price tag on a gift is generally seen as an etiquette error because the recipient does not need to know how much money you have spent. If you can't remove the sticker, grab a black pen and cross out the price so it's unreadable.
  2. Put the gift in a box. It's a lot easier to wrap something that's square or rectangular in shape. In most cases this means that you have to put the gift in a box, for example if it is a stuffed animal or clothing. Gift boxes can be found at department stores and stores like Hema or Xenos on the same shelf as wrapping paper. You can also use an old box as a shoebox if you happen to have one at home.
    • It's also a good idea to seal the top of the box with masking tape to keep it from opening while you're wrapping the gift.
  3. Place the box face down on the wrapping paper. Place the box upside down in the center of the paper. Place it halfway down the paper between the edge of the paper and the wrapping paper roll.
  4. Tape the flaps down with masking tape. Get a piece of tape. Stick the top flap to the bottom flap by sticking the masking tape in the center of the side of the box. This side of the box should now be completely covered with wrapping paper.
  5. Measure the object. Measure the circumference of the object using a tape measure. Add four inches to the circumference. Then measure the length of the object from top to bottom and the diameter of the flat side.
    • To measure the circumference, wrap the tape measure around the rounded part of the object.
    • To measure the diameter, measure the flat side of the object from side to side.
    • If the object has two flat sides and one side is larger than the other, measure the diameter of the largest side.
  6. Cut the tissue paper to size. It is better to wrap cylindrical objects in tissue paper than in wrapping paper. Cut a rectangle from the tissue paper. The width of the rectangle is the circumference of the object plus ten centimeters. The length of the rectangle is the diameter plus the length of the object.
    • For example, if the circumference of a circle is 13 centimeters, the length is 20 centimeters, and the diameter is 10 centimeters, the rectangle will be 23 by 30 centimeters.
  7. Place the object in the center of the paper. Place the paper on a flat surface. Place the object roughly in the center of the paper.
  8. Add a from / for ticket. It is always nice to put a by / for card on a gift to give it a personal touch. You can use tickets from the shop. You can buy these at most department stores. You can also make your own from / for cards by cutting cards out of cardboard, sticking decorative paper on them and writing a personal message on them with a pen or pencil.
  9. Attach an adhesive ribbon to the box. If you want to save some time, use an adhesive bow. You can buy these at department stores. The bow should have a sticker at the bottom that you put on the gift to secure the bow.
  10. Use fake berries or herbs as decorations. You can buy fake berries and herbs at gift and hobby stores. You can glue them on your gifts as a nice decorative decoration. This is a lot of fun for Christmas, because holly sprigs and red berries are traditional Christmas decorations.
  11. Tie bells around the ribbons. If you do wrap a ribbon around the box, add a few bells. Thread a few bells on the ribbon before wrapping it around the gift. This is a very nice decoration for Christmas presents.

Necessities

  • Wrapping paper
  • Scissors
  • Adhesive tape
  • Blotting paper
  • Snares
  • Ribbons
  • From / for tickets

Tips

  • It is best to use transparent wrapping tape for gifts that you send in the mail or that you wrap a long time in advance.
  • You can prevent the wrapping paper roll from unwinding by cutting an old toilet roll and sliding it around the wrapping paper roll.
  • Fragile gifts such as wine glasses can be placed in a gift box so that they do not break.
