iMessage from Apple is an easy to use app that many iPhone owners use to communicate. Unfortunately, the app is not easy to adjust to your needs, but you do have a few options if you want to adjust the colors of the message clouds in iMessage. In this article, we'll cover the different options and steps to take to customize the iMessage app.

Method 1 of 2: Change iMessage color with an additional app

1. Click the App Store icon on your home screen. If you are currently in another app, press your home button to return to your home screen. There you will find the icon.
2. Use the search function at the top of the screen. The search box is indicated by a magnifying glass and the word "Search". Some versions of iOS have the search function right at the bottom of the App Store page.
3. Look for an app that allows you to create different message images. All the apps you can find in the App Store don't actually change iMessage's settings, but they create images for the words you want to send (and you can choose the font, style, and color yourself). That image is then pasted into a message box.
   • There are all kinds of apps that you can use for this, examples are "Color Texting" and "Color Your Messages". All of these apps work much the same, the main difference being the number and types of fonts, backgrounds, and colors you can use.
   • If you want to see a full list of options, type "color iMessage" in the search box and tap "Search". A list of apps will now appear that allow you to create different types of text clouds for iMessage.
4. Choose an app. View all apps, such as "Color Text Messages", "Color Messaging Pro" and "Color Texting for iMessage". Some apps are free and for others you have to pay about one euro.
   • Read the reviews of the apps. Some apps don't work well with newer versions of iMessage.
   • See if a particular app has the features you're looking for. Most apps allow you to preview images of the messages. Look for the apps with a style that suits your needs.
5. Tap "Download". If you are not already signed in with your Apple ID, do so now.
6. Open the app. After installing the app, tap "Open" or tap the app's icon on the home screen.
7. Create a custom text message. Use the different options in the menu to create an image that suits you.
   • In "Color Your Messages" you will find three options in the middle of the screen: the first is a predefined text style with background, the second you can adjust the color of the text and / or the background, the third allows you to adjust font. Tapping an option opens a list of options for pattern, color and font at the bottom of the window. After you have selected the desired options, you can type the text of the message you want to send.
   • Six icons with the following titles appear in the "Color Texting" app: Colored Bubbles, Textured Bubbles, Colored Text, Glow Text, Cursive Text, Ghost Text. Tap the options of your choice and then enter your text.
8. Copy, paste and send the image you created. For all available apps, you will have to manually copy the image file to the iMessage app.
   • If you are using the "Color Your Messages" app, please type your message first and press the "Send" button. A notification will then appear stating that the app has copied the image to the clipboard and instructions on how to send it. Tap "Continue". Now the app will disappear into the background and you can open iMessage. Select the desired contact and place your finger in the message box until "Paste" appears. Tap on it and send the message.
   • After creating the image in "Color Texting" tap the button with the words "Click here to send the text message". A message will then appear stating that the app has copied the image to the clipboard, tap "OK" and tap the home button. Open iMessage, select the desired contact and place your finger in the message box until "Paste" appears. Tap on it and send the message.

Method 2 of 2: Change iMessage color by performing a jailbreak

1. Understand what it means to jailbreak your iPhone. Jailbreaking your iPhone allows you to access apps and settings that are not approved by Apple. This will void your warranty, but fortunately the process is reversible, after which it is no longer detectable.
   • Because your warranty will expire after a jailbreak, you can also choose to do this only after your warranty period has expired.
   • Apple has tried to create an environment that - because of strict controls - is safe for all users. You don't have to worry about malware or scams, that would be different if Apple weren't that strict.
2. Update your apps and save your files. Make sure you have a good backup of your files before jailbreaking, in case something goes wrong.
   • Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your computer.
   • Back up your iPhone with iTunes and / or using the cloud.
   • Choose a jailbreak program. Programs like RedSn0w or RageBreak are two options. Research the latest and greatest programs for jailbreaking your iPhone model. There are several options, but it can be difficult to determine the best option for you, unless you know people who have had good experiences with a particular program. Keep in mind that these programs are not approved by Apple.
   • Many of these programs are designed for some version of iOS and do not work on newer versions (often Apple changes something in the operating system to avoid jailbreaks). It is very common for a program to work on iOS 8.1.1, for example, but not 8.1.2. There should be enough information available about what the program can and cannot do.
3. Install the jailbreak program. You need to download the file on a computer to jailbreak your iPhone.
   • Download a jailbreak program on your computer.
   • Install the program on your computer. You may be given an access code that you will need later. Write down this code and keep it handy.
   • Download the latest iOS firmware. If you open the jailbreak program as an administrator, you must select this firmware file.
4. Make sure your computer and your iPhone can be connected. Make sure your iPhone and your computer are connected to the same wireless network.
5. Complete the jailbreak process.
   • Put your iPhone in DFU mode. DFU mode allows you to download new software for your operating system. Press and hold the on / off button for 3 seconds and then the on / off button and home button at the same time for 10 seconds. Release the on / off button, but keep pressing the home button until the program recognizes the device. Turn off the phone and connect it to your computer. Then you can put the programs you just downloaded on your iPhone.
   • The jailbreak program will now be activated on your iPhone. Release the home button on your iPhone. Wait for your iPhone to restart.
   • After the jailbreak is activated, you have to put the phone back into DFU mode. Your iPhone may need to reboot a few times.
   • Find the IP address your iPhone is using. It's listed in the Settings app under WiFi.
   • Open a command prompt window on your computer (Terminal on an Apple computer). Type the following command: “ssh root @ IP address>” (Enter the IP address of your iPhone in the brackets).
   • Enter the password you received during the installation of the jailbreak program.
6. Install Cydia. When the device is done jailbreaking, an app will appear on your home screen called Cydia. This is the jailbreak alternative to Apple's App Store, where you can access apps that are not approved by Apple. If the program is not on your home screen, you have to install it yourself. In a Command Prompt or Terminal window, type the following code: "wget ​​-q -O /tmp/cyinstall.sh http://downloads.kr1sis.net/cyinstall.sh && chmod 755 /tmp/cyinstall.sh && / tmp / cyinstall.sh ".
7. Restart your iPhone. You should now see the Cydia app on your home screen.
8. Open Cydia. Look for a program that lets you customize parts of the iPhone's interface, such as iMessage colors. Two popular options are Winterboard and Dreamboard, but other apps are also available. Install the app on your iPhone. The app will appear on your home screen.
9. Tap the installed app. Select the check box next to the desired message cloud colors. There are different colors you can choose for incoming and outgoing messages.
