This wikiHow teaches you how to read messages you have received from people you are not friends with on Facebook.

To step

  1. Go to https://www.facebook.com. Your news feed will appear.
    • If you see the login screen instead of your news feed, enter your username and password in the blanks and click login.
  2. Click on Messenger. This button is located on the left side of the screen, directly below "News Feed". You will open the Facebook Messenger screen.
    • Another way to access Messenger is to go to https://www.messenger.com.
  3. Click the Settings icon. It's the gear in the top left corner of the Messenger screen.
  4. Click Message Requests. Now you will see the list of messages you have received from people you are not connected to on Facebook.
  5. Click on a message to view its contents. The sender will not know that you have read the message unless you click the button Accept at the bottom of the message.
    • click on Ignore at the bottom of the message to archive the message without the sender ever knowing you read it.
    • click on See filtered requests (below the message request list) to view messages Facebook thinks you don't want to see (including spam and potential scams)

Tips

  • Be careful when responding to people you don't know on Facebook. Never pass on your personal information to others online.
