This article will show you how to block a phone number on an Android device. The process depends on the phone model. If you do not know how to block a number on your smartphone, please use the "Do not pick up the phone" application.

Steps

Method 1 of 5: On Samsung Phones

1. 1 Open the Phone app. It has a phone (or handset) icon and is located on the home screen.
2. 2 Click on ⋮. It's in the upper-right corner of the Phone screen. A dropdown menu will open.
3. 3 Click on Settings. It's near the bottom of the drop-down menu.
4. 4 Click on Block number. It's under the Call Settings section and it's in the middle of the screen.
5. 5 Enter the number. Click the text box under Add Phone Number and then enter the number you want to block.
6. 6 Click on Ready. This button is at the bottom of the screen. This will block the phone number.

Method 2 of 5: On Pixel or Nexus phones

1. 1 Open the Phone app. The Google Phone app is the default on Pixel or Nexus smartphones. It has a phone (or handset) icon and is located on the home screen.
2. 2 Click on ⋮. It's in the upper-right corner of the Phone screen. A dropdown menu will open.
3. 3 Click on Settings. It's in the drop-down menu.
4. 4 Click on Block call. It's near the top of the screen.
5. 5 Click on Add room. It's near the top of the screen.
6. 6 Enter the number you want to block. To do this, click on the text box and then enter the phone number.
7. 7 Click on Block. This option is located below the text box. Now you will not receive calls and text messages from this number.
   • If you want, check the "Report calls as spam" checkbox to receive messages about blocked calls.

Method 3 of 5: On LG Phones

1. 1 Open the Phone app. It has a phone (or handset) icon and is located on the home screen.
2. 2 Go to the tab Challenges. It's at the top or bottom of the screen.
3. 3 Click on ⋮. This icon is in the upper right corner of the screen. A dropdown menu will open.
4. 4 Click on Call settings. It's in the drop-down menu.
5. 5 Click on Reject and send message. This option is located in the General section.
6. 6 Click on Blocked numbers. You will find this option at the top of the screen.
7. 7 Click on +. A new window will open.
8. 8 Click on New number. A text box will appear on the screen.
   • You can also tap Contacts to select a number from your contacts list, or Calls to select one of your recent calls. The phone number will be added to the black list.
9. 9 Enter the number. Click in the text box and then enter the number you want to block.
10. 10 Click on Ready. This button is below the text box. The phone number will be blocked.

Method 4 of 5: On HTC phones

1. 1 Open the People app. Its icon looks like a silhouette of a person and is usually found on the home screen.
2. 2 Click on ⋮. This icon is in the upper right corner of the screen. A dropdown menu will open.
3. 3 Click on Contact management. It's in the drop-down menu.
4. 4 Click on Blocked contacts. You will find this option at the top of the screen.
5. 5 Click on Add. It's near the top of the screen.
6. 6 Enter the number. Enter the phone number you want to block.
7. 7 Click on Save. The phone number will be added to the black list.

Method 5 of 5: Using the Off-hook app

1. 1 Open the Play Store . The icon for this application is located either on the home screen or in the list of installed applications.
2. 2 Click on the search bar. It's at the top of the screen.
3. 3 Enter don't pick up the phone. A drop-down menu will open below the search bar.
4. 4 Click on don't pick up the phone. This option will appear at the top of the dropdown menu. The application "Do not pick up" will be found.
5. 5 Click on the application icon Don't pick up the phone. It looks like an octopus with "Reply" and "Decline" buttons. The page for the specified application will open.
6. 6 Click on Install. This green button is below the app icon.
7. 7 Click on To acceptwhen prompted. The process of downloading the application to the device will start.
   • It will take about a minute to download.
8. 8 Run the app Don't pick up the phone. The settings page will open.
9. 9 Double tap Proceed. This button is at the bottom of the screen. This will take you to the main page of the application.
10. 10 Go to the tab Your ratings. It's at the top of the screen.
11. 11 Click on +. This icon is in the lower right corner of the screen.
12. 12 Enter your phone number. Click the Enter Phone Number text box (at the top of the screen) and then enter the number you want to block.
13. 13 Scroll down and tap Select rating. This tab is in the middle of the page. A dropdown menu will open.
14. 14 Click on Negative. This will add the phone number to the blacklist.
15. 15 Click on Save. This button is at the bottom of the screen. The changes made will be saved.

Tips

• The phone will not ring if a call is made from a blocked number.
• If you are using the Off-hook application, remember that it must run in the background. To do this, you may need to disable the battery saver feature.

Warnings

• Please update your Android operating system because outdated versions do not support call blocking.
