If you're on the ChexSystems list, you're probably worried about not being able to open a new bank account, write checks, or use a payment card. 1. 1 Request a copy by calling ChexSystems at (800) 428-9623 and following the instructions on the answering machine.
2. 2 Go to the ChexSystems website at the link http://www.chexhelp.com and follow the instructions.
3. 3 Wait. You should receive a copy of your ChexSystems Consumer Report in a few days.
4. 4 Examine the report for negative information, such as bank debt.
5. 5 Check if the information is correct. If your report contains negative information and it is correct, then you are on the ChexSystems list and you may have problems opening a bank account.

Tips

• Watch for signs of identity theft by examining the report! For example, bank checks that you have never heard of, or inquiries from companies you have never dealt with. Please note if there is a request from a lender, and you have never taken out a loan. Take immediate action if you suspect that identity theft may have been committed.
• Study the report carefully. If you find incorrect information, contact ChexSystems to have the error corrected.
