There are many ways you can add music, videos and apps to your Android or iOS device. After reading this article, you can turn your device into a complete multimedia center.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Android OS

1. 1 Visit the Google Play Store. You can open it on your device in the Applications folder or follow the link on your computer. There are many free games, applications, songs and videos available for download.
   • You will need a Google account to download from the Play Store.
2. 2 Download apps from other sources. To install applications downloaded from other sources, you need to allow installation of third-party applications in your phone settings.
   • Press the Menu button on your device and open Settings. Find the Security menu and select it. Scroll down and check Unknown sources. Now you can install APK files of applications.
   • An APK file is an installation file for an Android application. If you want to install the program on your phone, it must be in APK format.
   • Make sure you download apps from trusted sources. There are many communities that offer apps not available in the Play Store, often for free. These can be beta versions of programs that are in development, or applications purchased outside the store.
   • The downloaded APK file can be opened using the Downloads application on your phone. Click on the APK file and your phone will prompt you to install it.
3. 3 Transfer music, videos and pictures from your computer. If you have files on your computer that you want to add, transfer them to your phone using a USB cable.
   • On Windows: If you have Windows Media Player 10 or higher installed, you can transfer files directly to your device when connected.
   • On Mac: You need to install Android File Transfer for the system to recognize your phone.
   • Copy music to the Music folder, videos to the Videos folder, and pictures to the Pictures folder.
4. 4 Download files from the Internet. If your phone is connected to the internet, you can directly download files to the device.
   • To download an image, hold your finger on it for a couple of seconds and release. A menu will open in which you will be able to save the image to the device.
   • The downloaded files will be stored on your phone in the Downloads folder. You can move them to any other location by connecting your phone to your computer and doing it on Windows, or by installing the File Manager application.

Method 2 of 2: iOS

1. 1 Download new apps. Open the AppStore on your desktop and browse the available apps. Many of them are free.
2. 2 Download new music and videos. Open the iTunes app on your desktop and browse the available music and videos. Most of them require a purchase.
3. 3 Transfer music and videos from your computer. Use iTunes on your computer to transfer music, videos and pictures to your iPhone.
4. 4 Install third party apps. To install from other sources, you will need to jailbreak your device. Look for information on this on the Internet.

Warnings

• When installing third-party applications from outside the Google Play Store or Apple AppStore, make sure you download them from trusted sources. Unknown applications may contain viruses and malware.
