Donuts can be made with quick bread dough (with baking powder) or yeast bread. Either way, once the dough is done, frying and sugar-coating the donuts is a snap. They are easy and cheap to make. Instead of buying donuts for your Saturday morning coffee, try to whip up a batch at home!

Ingredients

  • 250 ml. yogurt, about 1 glass
  • 170 g sugar, 7/8 cup, approx
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp. l. vanilla
  • 45 gr. melted butter, about 1 1/2 tablespoons l.
  • 500 gr. flour, about 4 cups
  • 2 tbsp. l. baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 50 gr. flour for sprinkling, as needed, about 2 tbsp. l.
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 l. vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar, for decoration or presentation

Donut glaze

  • 1/3 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • A pinch of vanilla, optional, optional

Steps

  1. 1 Put eggs and sugar in a bowl. Whisk well until light and fluffy.
  2. 2 Add yogurt and whisk in the sugar mixture.
  3. 3 Add vanilla, salt and melted butter. Whisk into mixture quickly.
  4. 4 Connect dry ingredients in a separate bowl.
  5. 5 Add liquid ingredients in a bowl..
  6. 6 Stir nice wooden spoon.
  7. 7 Not too much stir the dough.
  8. 8 Slightly dust the board with flour.
  9. 9 Roll out the dough 5 centimeters thick.
  10. 10 Cut out the donuts with a large dough pan.
  11. 11 Cut out the centers with a small dough mold.
  12. 12 Save the dough trimmings and mix with the uncut dough.
  13. 13 Continue cutting the donuts until you have used up all the dough.
  14. 14 Place a saucepan filled with vegetable oil on the stove and heat over medium heat. The temperature should be 185 ºC.
  15. 15 Line the tray with paper towels while the oil warms up.
  16. 16 Put donuts in hot oil and fry for 1 minute or until golden brown.
