The AOL Favorites feature is available after you register your account with the AOL service. Thanks to it, users can bookmark any site and save them in their profile. To transfer bookmarks to another browser, you can use a special extension or copy them manually. You can also transfer your favorites from one version of AOL to another after purchasing a new computer.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Using the Favorites extension (Chrome, Firefox, and Safari)

  1. 1 Open the AOL Favorites page in your browser. The extension can be installed for Chrome, Firefox or Safari browsers. If you are using Internet Explorer or another browser, you can transfer favorites manually one bookmark at a time, or download one of the supported browsers and then transfer bookmarks automatically.
    • You can open the Favorites page directly from the link aol.com/favorites/.
  2. 2 Download the Favorites extension. Click the Download Now button to install it through your browser's extension explorer.
  3. 3 After installing the extension, click the AOL Favorites button.
  4. 4 Click Sign In and enter your AOL account information.
  5. 5 Click the gear button in the extension's Favorites menu.
  6. 6 Click the "Export" button to export the Favorites to your browser. Favorite bookmarks will become bookmarks in your browser.
  7. 7 Remove extensions (optional). After exporting Favorites, you can remove the extension if you no longer plan to use it.

Method 2 of 3: Transferring manually

  1. 1 Sign up for the AOL PC app. If you are transferring only a few bookmarks, it is easier to copy them manually and transfer them one at a time.
  2. 2 Click the Favorites button. For older versions, you may also need to click on Favorite Places.
  3. 3 Right click on one of the sites that you want to transfer and then choose "Edit".
  4. 4 Highlight the site address.
  5. 5 Right-click on the highlighted address and click "Copy". You can also click Ctrl+C.
  6. 6 Open the browser you want to add your favorites to.
  7. 7 Right click on the address bar and select "Paste". You can also click Ctrl+V.
  8. 8 Add the address to the browser bookmarks bar by clicking on the bookmark button.
  9. 9 Repeat the process of copying, pasting, and bookmarking for the rest of your favorite sites.

Method 3 of 3: Transferring from an old computer to a new one

  1. 1 Log into your AOL account on your old computer. The fastest way to transfer favorites from your old computer to your new one is to add your favorites to your personal folder.
    • Older versions of AOL store your favorite bookmarks online, so you don't need to log into your AOL profile on your old computer. This step is only required for AOL 10.
  2. 2 Click the Favorites button. Select "Manage Favorites".
  3. 3 Drag your favorites to your personal folder. The name of the personal folder corresponds to your nickname.
  4. 4 Log into your AOL account on your new computer.
  5. 5 Click the Favorites button. Select "Manage Favorites".
  6. 6 Open your personal folder and drag your favorites to the main “Favorites” folder. With AOL 10, that's all you need to do. If using an older version, read on.
  7. 7 Click the Favorites button and select Import AOL Favorites.
  8. 8 Click "Continue". AOL will scan your favorite bookmarks stored online. After the import is complete, click "OK".
  9. 9 Open your personal directory in the Favorites menu.
  10. 10 Open the folder with the date the favorites were imported (today).
  11. 11 Drag all your favorite bookmarks from the folder to the main “Favorites” folder.
