Tired of Vista? If so, upgrade to Windows 7. This article will guide you on how to upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7. The first 4 steps are optional but highly recommended.
Steps
1 Download Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor from this page.
2 Install Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.
3 Run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. Before doing this, connect any devices you regularly use (printer, scanner, MP3 players, etc.).
4 After the program finishes, look at the report it has made. Save and / or print it (you will need it later).
- 5 Perform one of the following actions:
- If you purchased Windows 7 online, open the installation file. This is the easiest way to install Windows 7 on a netbook. Read more about this here.
- If you have a system installation disc, insert it into your optical drive. The installation should start automatically.Otherwise, click "Start" - "Computer" - "CD / DVD Drive" - setup.exe.

6 The Windows Installer screen will open. Click Install.
7 The Download Important Updates to Install page appears. We recommend that you install these updates (see the Tips section).
8 The license agreement window will open. Check "I accept the license terms" and then click "Next".
9 In the next window, click "Update". A compatibility report is displayed.
10 Install Windows 7. To do this, follow the instructions on the screen.
11 Ready!
Tips
- The 25-character product key can be found on the Windows installation disc box.
- If you have Vista 32-bit installed, you can only upgrade to Win7 32-bit (similar to Vista 64-bit). To find out the version of the system, click "Start" - "Control Panel" - "System".
- During the installation of Windows 7, you must be connected to the Internet to download updates; however, you can install Windows 7 without downloading updates.
- If you are using a fingerprint reader or other biometric device that controls access to your computer, write down the password before updating (you will need it for the first login after updating the system).
- Make sure you have SP1 or SP2 installed on your Vista system. Visit this site for more information on service packs.
