1 Mount the ISO file in Explorer. Explorer in modern Windows operating systems allows you to mount an ISO file to a virtual disk. Right click on the disk image and select "Connect". After you mount the image to a virtual disk, a new window with the contents of the disk will automatically open on the screen.

• If a new window does not appear, open File Explorer by clicking on the folder-shaped icon on the taskbar or by pressing the keys ⊞ Win+E... Select the This PC directory in the left pane of the window to display all devices and drives.

2 Start the installation. Double-click "Setup.exe", "Install.exe", or "Autoexec.exe" to run the installer.

3 Follow the instructions on the screen to install the game. If a disc is required to run the game, make sure the ISO is mounted to the virtual disc.

Method 2 of 2: Install from ISO on Windows 7 or earlier

1. 1 Download a virtual disk emulator program. In earlier versions of Windows, disk mounting cannot be done without third-party software. Enter phrases such as "mount iso" or "virtual disk" (without quotes) into a search engine and find a program with good reviews. Programs of this kind can be either paid or free (some of them have a trial period).
   • Be careful when looking for programs on the Internet. Be sure to read the reviews to find a reliable program that will not harm your computer.
   • Some programs support different types of images. If the image is not supported, search the Internet for a program to convert the file to a compatible type.
2. 2 Install the program and run it. Run the installation of the selected software and follow the instructions on the screen to install the software on your computer. When the installation is complete, launch the program from the Start menu or from the desktop by double-clicking on the shortcut.
   • The program will create a virtual disk that will appear as a regular disk on your computer. It can be signed as CD, DVD or Blu-ray disc. Make sure the disk matches the type of image you want to mount.
   • A running program may not appear as a normal window. Check the notification area on the taskbar to see if it's running. The taskbar is located at the bottom of the screen.
3. 3 Mount the image to a virtual disk. Display a list of available virtual disks in the emulator program. If necessary, add the image to the system directory of the program. Right click on the image in the program to mount it to the virtual disk. Or mount the image to the virtual disk directly by right-clicking on it and choosing Mount.
   • Find the ISO file on your computer. The mounted ISO file will remain on the disk until you mount another image or extract the image from the disk.
   • Try mounting the ISO file from Explorer by right-clicking the ISO file and then choosing Mount.
4. 4 Open the drive in Explorer. The mounted image will appear as a regular disk. Right-click on the disc, then click "Open" to open the disc, and double-click on "Setup.exe", "Install.exe", or "Autoexec.exe" to start the installation of the program. To go directly to the installation of the game, try running the "autoexec.exe" program by double-clicking on the disc.
5. 5 Follow the instructions on the screen to install the game. If a disc is required to run the game, make sure the ISO is mounted to the virtual disc.

Obtaining an ISO file

• An ISO image is an optical disc image. To create a disc image, read How to create an ISO file. It should be noted that the developers of some games protect discs from copying, therefore, they cannot be copied.
• Several developers and publishers provide free versions of ISO images.
• Downloading ISO images of commercial products from the Internet, if they were not provided by the manufacturer, developer or publisher, may violate the copyright law in your country - in Russia it is the law "On Copyright and Related Rights."
• Downloading an ISO image marked as "Abandonware" (software (operating system, word processor, computer game or media file) that is no longer marketed or supported by the manufacturer) is still subject to copyright law and is not distributed free of charge.
