Candles create coziness and pleasant smell in the house. However, candles are often the cause of fire, so learn to use them correctly.

Steps

1. 1 Never leave burning candles unattended. Sounds simple, but something can happen in seconds. You don't have to sit by the candle, but you should always see it wherever you go.
2. 2 Place the candles on a sturdy, heat-resistant surface. Do not place candles on plastic, flammable or unstable surfaces. Remember the rule: if someone can accidentally turn a surface (for example, a table), it is not safe to install a candle on such a surface.
3. 3 Place candles out of the reach of children and pets. Make sure the cat cannot jump onto the table. If the candle is on a table, the distance from walls and other objects should be at least 10 cm, and as far from the edge as possible. Then the child will not be able to grab or turn over the candle.
4. 4 The candle should be more than 20 cm away from flammable objects. Away from the flame, nothing should ignite.
5. 5 Do not install candles in places where people often walk. In busy rooms, someone might accidentally hit a candle. It is safer to place candles in quiet places (such as the bathroom) than in a hall or hallway.
6. 6 Tie up curtains and drapes near the candles. A sudden gust of air can blow the curtain fabric towards the candle fire. If the windows are open, it is best not to light any candles at all.
7. 7 Always use candlesticks. The candlestick will extinguish the wick of the burned-out candle. By simply placing the candle on the table, you risk burning the surface.
8. 8 Buy a special candle cover. This cover is placed on top of a burning tealight, and makes the flame more even, without smoke.
9. 9 Avoid long and prayer candles. Such candles often fall, there is no fire protection on them. Such candles burn out quickly.
10. 10 Extinguish and discard candles with a wick less than 6 mm. Such candles are not safe to use.
