- X = waist / hip; Y = skirt length
- With hips X = 36 (91cm) and length Y = 30 (76cm).
- The top bottom edge of the trapezoid A should be about 30% of the result of X multiplied by 1.5 after adding 3 inches (7.6 cm) to the seam. (Use formula A = *. 3.) A = 36 + 3 = 39, 39 * 1.5 = 59, 59 *. 3 = 18
- The height of the trapezoid B should be equal to Y measurement plus 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) of seam. (Use formula B = Y + 1.5.) B = 30 + 1.5 = 32
- The bottom of the C trapezoid should be 40% of the X measurement after adding 3 inches (7.6 cm) to the seam. (Use formula C = *. 4.) C = 36 + 3 = 39, 39 * 1.5 = 59, 59 *. 4 = 24
Draw a trapezoid on a piece of paper with the same dimensions as the values A, B, and C.
- Remember to sew the right fabric! Sew on the left side of the fabric so that when you wear the bottom of the skirt, the stitching will not be exposed.
Complete the hem of the skirt, the bottom contour and the two skirts as desired. Button and sew the button on the skirt in the red dot position as in the picture above. The dot on the left is the hole and the dot on the middle is where you buttoned, you should sew the button on the inside of the dress.
Sew the two laces together like the wavy green line in the picture above.

- You can also finish the bottom hem of the skirt after wrapping the skirt over. That way, you will be able to adjust the skirt to fit.
- This dress can be designed in any way, depending on how you sew, the skirt can be worn to work, to the beach or just a street walk. Also, if you're bored and have nothing to do, designing and sewing a miniskirt is not a bad idea either.
