A miracle sponge is a powerful cleaning tool that you can use to remove stubborn stains from hard surfaces around your home. It's basically a block of non-toxic melamine foam that works in the same way as very fine sandpaper, so you can easily scrub away dirt and stains with it.

Part 1 of 2: Mastering the basics

1. Test the miracle sponge on a small area before using it on a surface. The surface of a miracle sponge resembles sandpaper and can therefore damage the finish of some surfaces, such as lacquered wood or glossy paint. Wet the miracle sponge and test it on a small area before cleaning to make sure it won't damage anything.
2. Wet the wonder sponge whenever you want to use it. You can also use a miracle sponge dry, but by wetting it a little it absorbs the dirt more easily. For the same reason, wet your cloth before wiping your countertop with it.
   • When you have wet the miracle sponge, squeeze out the excess water, just like you would with a regular sponge.
3. Wipe the surface you want to clean. With most dirt you can see a clear difference just by wiping the surface with the sponge. However, you may need to scrub off stubborn stains such as rust or mildew stains.

1. Use a miracle sponge to make your shoes look like new again. It can be difficult to get black stripes and other stains out of your shoes, but a miracle sponge can remove all traces of use from your favorite sneakers. Gently polish materials like suede with the sponge and then wipe the rubber edges off the soles.
2. Clean your fridge inside and out with a miracle sponge. A miracle sponge works very well for removing dirty fingerprints that collect on the outside of your refrigerator, as well as spills, mold and other stains that can develop over time.

   • A miracle sponge is an excellent tool for removing nail polish stains from surfaces that can be discolored by nail polish remover, such as carpeting and linoleum.
3. Remove drawings your kids made on the walls in the house. If your little artists have drawn on your walls with crayons or markers, wipe the drawings away with a wonder sponge. Don't forget to test the miracle sponge on a small area first, as it can dull some glossy paints.
   • You can even remove stains from waterproof markers with a miracle sponge. Just scrub a little longer until the stains are gone.
4. Scrub caked-on food from your stove or microwave. Once food scraps have dried on your stove or in your microwave, they seem impossible to remove. However, if you scrub your devices with a miracle sponge, they will look like new again.

5. Remove mold, limescale and soap scum from your bathroom. Tips

• Cut the miracle sponge into smaller pieces if you want to make it last longer. A miracle sponge wears off when you use it when cleaning, just like a pencil eraser. Using a smaller piece will give you the same cleaning power, but will keep the entire wonder sponge from wearing down. Plus, it's useful to use a small piece when cleaning small spots on a wall, shower, microwave, or other surface.
