This article will teach you how to connect a soundbar speaker to a Windows PC.

Method 1 of 3: With Bluetooth (wireless)

1. Turn on the soundbar.
   • If the soundbar runs on batteries, insert the batteries and press the start button.
   • If the soundbar requires power, plug it into an electrical outlet or power strip, then press the power button.
2. Put the soundbar into pairing mode. The steps to do this vary depending on the model, but you usually have to press a button somewhere on the soundbar to make it recognizable to your PC.
   • Please refer to your soundbar manual for unique steps for your model.
   • Some sound bars automatically enter pairing mode.
3. Open the Windows 10 Security Center. This is the square speech bubble to the right of the clock in the taskbar, usually at the bottom of the screen. There may be a small number above the icon.
4. Turn on Bluetooth. Look for the "Bluetooth" tile, which has a small icon that resembles a side tie.
   • If the tile is lighter in color and "Not Connected" or displays the name of a connected device, then Bluetooth is already turned on.
   • If the "Bluetooth" tile is hot and dark in color, click it to turn on Bluetooth.
5. Click on the tile To connect in the Security Center. This has an icon of a computer screen and a speaker. Windows will now search for devices.
6. Click on the soundbar when it appears. This will connect the PC to the soundbar. Once connected, all audio will be sent to the soundbar.
   • Once the speaker is paired, your PC will automatically connect when it is within range.

Method 2 of 3: With an AUX cable

1. Turn on the soundbar.
   • If the soundbar runs on batteries, insert the batteries and press the start button.
   • If the soundbar requires power, plug it into an electrical outlet or power strip, then press the power button.
2. Plug one end of the AUX cable into the audio port on your PC. Insert the 3.5mm plug into the port that displays a small headphone icon. Usually, that port is on the side of a laptop's keyboard or in the front of your desktop.
3. Plug the other end of the AUX cable into the soundbar. The location of this varies from device to device, but the port is usually named "AUX". Once connected, Windows will automatically play audio through the soundbar.

Method 3 of 3: With an optical audio cable

1. Turn on the soundbar.
   • If the soundbar runs on batteries, insert the batteries and press the start button.
   • If the soundbar requires power, plug it into an electrical outlet or power strip, then press the power button.
2. Insert one end of the optical audio cable into the soundbar. If your soundbar has an optical audio port, you can use an optical audio cable to connect the device to your PC. The port is usually named "TOSLINK" or "OPTICAL".
   • Toslink is a standard optical audio cable commonly used to connect home theater systems to digital electronics, such as DVD players.
3. Plug the other end of the optical audio cable into your PC. This port is usually called "TOSLINK", "OPTICAL" or "DIGITAL AUDIO OUT". If you're using a desktop, it should be on the back. On a laptop, it is usually located on one side. Once connected, your PC will automatically play all audio through the soundbar.
   • Some thinner laptop models may not have an optical audio port.
