Learn how to bake a cake without an oven or microwave, using pans you have in your kitchen.

To step

  1. Turn on the large burner on your stove. It may also go on the smaller burner of your gas stove, if necessary.
  2. Put the pan on it. You can use a large stainless steel or aluminum pan for this. Put the pan on the stove and preheat it for five minutes.
  3. Find something that can serve as a baking pan. Any aluminum or iron baking pan with a flat, thick bottom and wide opening is good. You can even use a simple saucepan as a cake tin.
  4. Place the mold on a rack or platform. You can use a rack or plate to place upside down in the large pan so that the cake pan is not directly on the bottom.
  5. Put the cake batter in the tin. Place the cake tin on the rack or platform. Cover the pan with a lid and lower the heat.
  6. Bake the cake on low heat for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a skewer that you insert comes out clean.

Tips

  • If a cake recipe says you should put the cake in the oven or microwave for 35 minutes, bake it on the stove for 35 minutes as well.

Warnings

  • If you're using a stainless steel pan for baking or as a tin, you only need to preheat it for two minutes.
  • If you're only using half the amount of the recipe, you also only need to preheat the pan for two minutes.
  • You can also use a cookie jar as a cake tin.
  • Never place the cake tin directly on the bottom of the pan without a rack or elevation.

Necessities

  • Stove
  • Stainless steel or aluminum pan
  • Iron or aluminum cake tin
  • Small plate as an increase in the large pan
