By syncing your Xbox Wireless Controller with your Xbox console, you can comfortably play games without having to worry about wiring while playing. You can sync a wireless Xbox controller with an Xbox One or Xbox 360 console.

Method 1 of 2: Sync with Xbox One

1. Turn on the Xbox One console.
2. Verify that your Xbox Wireless Controller contains batteries.
3. Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller to turn on the controller. The light on the Xbox button will flash, indicating that the controller is not yet synced with your Xbox One.
4. Press and release the "Connect" button on the left side of the Xbox One console.
5. Within 20 seconds of pressing the "Connect" button on the Xbox One console, press the "Connect" button on the controller. The "connect" button on your controller is located at the top left of the controller.
6. Continue to hold the controller's "connect" button until the light on the Xbox button begins to flash rapidly. The controller is in sync with your Xbox One console when the flickering stops and the light stays on.

Method 2 of 2: Sync with Xbox 360

1. Turn on the Xbox 360 game console.
2. Verify that your Xbox Wireless Controller contains batteries.
3. Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller to turn on the controller.
4. Press and release the "Connect" button on your Xbox 360 console. On the 360 ​​E and 360 S consoles, the "connect" button is located at the bottom right of the home button. On the original Xbox console, the "Connect" button is a small, round button located to the left of the Home button.
5. Within 20 seconds of pressing the "Connect" button on the Xbox 360 console, press the "Connect" button on the controller. The "connect" button on your controller is located at the top left of the controller.
6. Wait for the controller to automatically connect to your Xbox 360. The lights on your controller will stop flashing once the controller is synced with your Xbox 360.
