Have you ever spent eternity putting on makeup in the morning and then came home later that day and again saw under-eye circles, foundation stains, or dry skin? Just a few simple changes to your makeup will help your beautiful look last much longer. Prepare your skin thoroughly before applying makeup and use long-lasting makeup. Also, don't forget to pin your makeup.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Preparing the face

  1. 1 Wash your face. Rinse off dirt, sebum and old makeup, which will help your fresh makeup last much longer. If you apply fresh makeup to a dirty face, it will either wear off or flake off.
    • Wash your face in the morning before applying makeup.
    • Don't use harsh soaps on your face. This can cause irritation and dryness, which will make your makeup look short-lived.
  2. 2 Exfoliate your skin several times a week. Dead skin cells tend to accumulate on the face, especially as we age, so you need to exfoliate your skin several times a week to remove them.Applying makeup to dead skin cells will cause it to flake off throughout the day. Your makeup will look and feel better on a smoother, cleansed face.
    • You can use a facial brush to remove dead skin cells. Rub your face in a circular motion, never press too hard.
    • A homemade sugar scrub also works well as a mild exfoliant.
    • Don't forget your lips! In order for the lipstick to stick better to them, they should not peel off.
  3. 3 Moisturize your skin. For oily skin, a moisturizer without oils (you can also in the form of a gel), and for dry skin, buy a more nourishing one. To protect your skin from the sun, be sure to buy a product with an SPF factor of at least 15, and if you live in a sunny climate, get a separate SPF 30. If you are not young, you can use an anti-wrinkle moisturizer.
    • Don't use a thick, oily moisturizer throughout the day. This can make your face look too smooth for makeup. It is better to apply the cream before bed - so it will moisturize the skin and will not interfere with cosmetics.
  4. 4 Apply face foundation (primer). Apply a thin layer of a good foundation to keep your makeup looking all day long. Some primers can be very expensive, but you won't need a lot to get a good result. Apply foundation all over your face, especially red or oily areas, and any blemishes you want to hide. Licensed cosmetologist Laura Martin advises: “Applying a primer as a base for your makeup is the best way to help your makeup last longer. The main thing is to choose a base according to your skin type. "

  5. 5 Use an eye base. This will help the eyeshadow last longer and prevent wrinkles on the eyelids. It also makes colors brighter and less transparent. You can also use a liquid concealer for this.
    • Unless you're wearing a lot of makeup, an eye foundation may not be necessary. However, it can really help if your makeup is often smudged and crumbled.
    • An eye foundation can also help your eyeliner stay in place.

Method 2 of 3: Choosing the Right Makeup

  1. 1 Get a good matte foundation. If you don't want to use a liquid foundation, you should use mineral powder instead. It will provide a lighter coverage than liquid, but it will also allow less bacteria to enter your skin and allow your face to breathe.
    • Alternatively, try a foundation, powder, foundation, or tinted moisturizer. Mineral makeup may work well for some but be too dry and unstable for others. If you have yellow skin tones, getting the right color can be tricky.
  2. 2 Use a translucent powder. It can be a completely transparent or slightly toning powder that allows you to give your face a matte finish without the use of additional colored powder. This powder can be bought both in a pharmacy (it will cost less) and in branded cosmetics departments (it will cost more).
  3. 3 Choose a long-lasting lipstick color. This type of lipstick is designed to stay on the lips for a long time all day long. Make sure to moisturize your lips well before applying, as long-lasting lipstick will dry your lips a lot.
    • There are a great many variations of such lipstick on the market - it all depends on the image that is planned to be created. Lip tint and long lasting lipstick will last longer, as will lipstick with a matte finish.
    • For an even more lasting color, use a lip liner - apply it along the lip contour. This will help keep the shape consistent throughout the day.
  4. 4 Use a loose eye shadow. Applying this type of eyeshadow to the base will allow the color to remain unchanged throughout the day.Applying cream eyeshadow is usually much easier. Apply eyeshadow to the base with an eyeshadow brush.
  5. 5 Use waterproof mascara (not to be confused with waterproof mascara, see below). The waterproof formula keeps your eyes fresh all day. This mascara won't run out if you get wet or cry. Just make sure you don't sleep with it, as it is harmful to your eyelashes and can cause them to fall out.
    • Don't waste money on a mascara foundation. The mascara base will lower your lashes, making them look shorter.
    • Unless this is some really important event (like a wedding or a photo shoot), when it is necessary for the makeup to last as long as possible, it is better to give preference to a water-resistant mascara over waterproof. The latter are harmful to the eyelashes, and it is better not to use them every day.

Method 3 of 3: Hold in place

  1. 1 Take your time applying makeup. If you put on makeup in a hurry and run out into the street, it simply won't have time to gain a foothold. After each layer you apply, wait five minutes before applying the next one. This will make your makeup last longer.
  2. 2 Avoid touching your face all day long. Every time you touch your face, you remove some makeup and risk smudging it. That is why, if possible, it is better not to touch the face.
  3. 3 Dye less in summer. When it's hot outside, wearing a ton of makeup isn't a good idea. In hot weather, we sweat and make-up comes off on its own. The best thing to do is to apply waterproof (read above) eye makeup and reduce the amount of foundation, rather than struggle with maintaining your makeup throughout the day.
  4. 4 Wear your hair tucked up. All-day facial hair is a surefire way to wipe off your makeup a little faster. When you need to keep your makeup all day long, tuck your hair up.

Tips

  • If you don't like a foundation brush, use a sponge. This method is cheaper for applying a foundation or tinted moisturizer. First, dampen the sponge to prevent it from absorbing a lot of the makeup. Use downward movements for best results. And, for an even look, take care to cover all pores.
  • Use a foundation brush to apply moisturizer, then use the same brush to apply foundation. This will prevent light spots, streaks around the edge of the face and on the jawbone. Remember to apply consistently and where you dislike the most. In addition, due to the hydration, the foundation will not be absorbed into the skin of the face, and it will last longer.
  • Take a spray bottle and fill it with water. Spray water onto the eyeshadow brush. This will make the shadows brighter and more persistent. Do not spray too much water in order not to destroy the shadow.
  • As an alternative to expensive eye primers, use a clear, tasteless lip balm / chapstick and sweep it over your lids. The result will not be worse.
  • Remove mascara with care to avoid breakage and shedding of eyelashes. Use special wipes or make-up remover for this.
  • Do not apply eyeshadow on dry eyelids. Otherwise, they will immediately crumble. If you don't have a primer for your eyeshadow, use a cream that matches your skin color. Cover the eyelids with them, and only then apply the usual shadow. This will make your makeup look better and last longer.
  • Apply a moisturizer to your face, then brush on a foundation powder and your makeup will last all day.
  • If you are using eyeliner, you can use light brown eyeshadow over the eyeliner for a better hold. You can do this with any shade / pencil color.
  • Use a lip base before applying lipstick to prevent smudging and improve results.

Warnings

  • Be careful if you use sprays over makeup, as they tend to pinch on sensitive areas of the face such as under the nose. Place the spray at a distance of 30 centimeters and only then spray. And yes - give preference to proven brands of products.
