Make cookie cutters using only aluminum foil and some sticky tape! There is no need to use copper wires and aluminum pie pans. This article is for the lazy and creative people who don't want to leave the house but still want to make delicious gingerbread men. If you don't have foil, your neighbor may have it. Tell your neighbor that this is for the cookie cutters (that you are going to bake cookies with them!) And you will make a new friend.

Steps

  1. 1 Tear off a sheet of aluminum foil.
  2. 2 Lay the sheet so that the longest part is horizontal.
  3. 3 Fold in sections approximately 1.27 to 2.5 cm in size.
  4. 4 Continue folding until you have a long, sturdy strip of aluminum foil. Thickness will help it keep its shape.
  5. 5 Fold the strip into any shape you like. A longer strip will mean you have to work with a larger strip. Experiment by folding the foil in different directions to create different shapes.
  6. 6 When you have the shape you want, glue the ends together with whatever duct tape you have. Just make sure it's clean. Try regular clear duct tape.

Tips

  • If you need more stability, then attach a strip of foil to the top of a real mold. The picture shows the "real" molds - notice some of the stability lines or handles.
  • Making a really big cookie cutter? (Great!) Glue several strips together.
  • If it's not too tight, cut open an aluminum pan and tape it together.

Warnings

  • Many foil boxes have a sharp metal edge that you can use to cut a piece of foil - just watch your fingers!
  • If you are using aluminum that is thicker than foil, such as disposable baking tins, be aware that the cut or torn ends can be very sharp and stiff, and cut much deeper than, say, paper. Be careful when cutting and curl the edges.

What do you need

  • Aluminium foil
  • Ruler and edge to help tear off the foil
  • Duct tape
