This article will show you how to add stops along your route, such as gas stations and restaurants, in the Maps app on your iPhone.

Steps

Part 1 of 2: Get directions

  1. 1 Launch the Maps application. Click on the map icon on your desktop.
  2. 2 Tap the search box at the bottom of the map.
  3. 3 Enter your destination.
  4. 4 Select your destination from the results below the search field.
  5. 5 Tap Directions.
  6. 6 Touch Next next to the desired route. The map displays the starting point of the route and the first set of directions.

Part 2 of 2: Add Stops

  1. 1 Tap the bottom of the screen. A menu appears with basic route information such as distance, travel time and estimated arrival time.
  2. 2 Select a stop category. Depending on the location and time of day, the screen will display icons for gas stations, eateries, cafes and other places. A list of the nearest places corresponding to the selected category will appear on the map.
    • At this time, you cannot add your own stops or additional destinations to your route. If your route involves several stops, you will have to plot a new route to each of them.
  3. 3 Tap Next next to the desired stop. The map displays the new route to the destination and the first set of directions.
    • To resume the original route, tap Resume Route at the top of the screen.
