This article shows you how to delete messages in the Messages app on iPhone.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Delete individual messages

1. 

   Open iPhone Messages. Do this by clicking the white dialogue box on the green background icon. The icon is on the Home screen.

   Select a message in the Messages menu. If you're chatting, you can click <in the upper left corner of the screen to return to the Messages menu.

   Click and hold the message you want to delete.

   Choose More (See more). Options are on the menu that appears at the bottom of the screen.

   Select each message you want to delete. The message you choose at first will be selected by default.

   Click the trash can icon. The icon is in the lower left corner of the screen.

7. 

   Click Delete Message (Delete message). Selected messages will be deleted immediately.
   • If you delete multiple messages, an option will appear Delete 5 Messages.

Method 2 of 3: Delete conversation

1. 

   Open iPhone Messages. Do this by clicking the white dialogue box on the green background icon. The icon is on the Home screen.

2. 

   Swipe left on the conversation you want to delete.

3. 

   Click the button Delete (Delete) appears. All data in this conversation will be deleted from the iPhone.
   • If you load files in the conversation into Camera Roll, they are still stored there.

Method 3 of 3: Delete multiple conversations

1. 

   Open iPhone Messages. Do this by clicking the white dialogue box on the green background icon. The icon is on the Home screen.

2. 

   Click Edit (Edit). The button is in the top left corner of the Messages screen.
   • If you have a conversation open, click <in the upper left corner of the screen to return to the Messages menu.

3. 

   Select the conversation you want to delete.

4. 

   Click Delete. The button is in the bottom right corner of the screen. The selected message will disappear. advertisement

Advice

• If you only want to delete one message in the Messages app, you can swipe left on the message bar and click Delete to perform.
• When selecting multiple messages to delete, you can click Delete All in the upper left corner of the screen to delete the conversation.
• You can delete messages, photos, videos, and Digital Touch attachments just like you would a regular message.

Warning

• You can't get deleted messages back without using restore point.
