Method 3 of 3: Use Preview on Mac


  1. Open PDF documents with the Preview application. You will double-click on the blue Preview icon that looks like overlapping photos, then click File (File) in the menu bar and Open ... (Open) in the currently displayed menu. Please select a file in the dialog box and click Open.
    • Preview is Apple's exclusive image viewer that comes pre-installed on most versions of Mac OS.

  2. Click Edit (Edit) on the menu bar.
  3. Click Find (Find).

  4. Click Find ....
  5. Type a word or sentence in the "Search" field in the upper-right corner of the window.

  6. Click next (Next). The entire word or sentence you are looking for in the text is highlighted.
    • Click < or > below the search field to move to where the word or sentence is in the text.
