Found a video on Facebook and want to download it? Afraid that the uploader will delete the video before you can watch it? Want to transfer videos to your phone for later viewing? To do that, you need to download videos from Facebook. Follow the steps in this article to upload any video on Facebook, even if the uploader has made it private!

Part 1 of 2: Download Videos on Facebook
Check if the video is uploaded directly to Facebook. Facebook allows users to share links to videos from multiple sites. Users can also upload videos directly to Facebook. You can view the video source below the video preview and title. If the source is not visible, the video has been uploaded directly to Facebook.
- If the video is uploaded from another site like YouTube then you can check out the related tutorial.
Right-click the link to the video. Select “Copy link address” from the menu that appears. Alternatively, you can play the video, right-click on the video and select Show video URL, then Copy the URL from the browser's address bar.- The address will look like “http://facebook.com/photo.php?v=xxxxxxxxxxxxx” or “http://facebook.com/video/video.php?v=xxxxxxxxxxxxx”.
Access a video download service on Facebook. You can find many such sites online. These pages often have ads and many fake download buttons. You should just click the Download button next to the text box. If your browser uses ad blocking, it will be easier to distinguish you from visiting those pages.
Paste the URL into the text field. Click the Download button on the right side. You will see a page to help you download the desired video.- If you see a message saying that the video you intend to download is Private, simply click Private Video Downloader and follow the instructions.
Right-click the download link. The video may be either Low Quality or High Quality. Choose a quality that meets your needs. Please right-click on the download link and select “Save link as…”. You can rename the file and choose the download location on your computer
- The video will probably be in 00:06 am so you'll need a corresponding video player to run it on your computer.
Part 2 of 2: Download Videos in Private Mode on Facebook
Open Facebook in Google Chrome. You need to use Chrome Web Developer tools to search for links to private videos. Chrome is a free browser. You can download this browser from Google.
Open the link to the video you want to download. You should open the video on the same page.
Click the Chrome menu button. This button is in the upper right corner, pictured ☰. Hover your mouse over to the “More tools” section and then select “Developer tools”. You will see a small bar at the bottom of the web page.
- Click the "Undock" button. You need to click the vertical button in the lower right corner and then click Undock into separate window. This is how you can easily open Developer tools.
Click the Network tab under Developer tools. You will see a wide range of applications available on the website.
Play the video. To see the video, you need to play it from start to finish in the Facebook window. Once the video has played, click on the “Type” column to sort the list of things that appear by file. Scroll down until you see “video / mp4” file. The file type is media.
- If you played the video but can't see the file anywhere, keep the Developer tools page and reopen the Facebook page containing the video. Play back the video from start to finish. You may have to repeat this step more than once to see the video.
Right-click on the video address in the “Name” column. Select "Open link in new tab" (Open link in new tab). You will see a new tab containing just that video.- Right-click on the video. Select "Save video as ..." (Save video as ...), choose where you want to save and name the video. advertisement
Advice
- You need a suitable video player to play the video you just downloaded. If you have trouble playing the file, try VLC Media Player!
