Today's wikiHow teaches you how to customize your Google News page or app (Google News). Since Google News relies on browsing history, you must manually delete or request to add a specific topic / source if you want to filter the news that appear on the bulletin board.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: On the computer

1. 

   Open the Google News page. Go to https://news.google.com/ in the web browser on your computer.

   Sign in with your Google account. If you're not signed in to your Google account, click Sign in (Login) in the upper right corner of the page, then enter your email address, click NEXT (Next), enter your password and click NEXT Again.
   • Skip this step if your profile picture appears in the upper-right corner of the page.

   Open the menu if necessary. By default, a sidebar with a list of options is on the left side of the page; If not, you need to click on the icon ☰ in the upper-left corner of the page to display the sidebar.

   Change the language and country settings. Place your mouse pointer on the left side of the page and scroll down to the "Language & region" section, then:
   • Click Language & region.
   • Check the box next to language and country (under the structure "Language | Country").
   • Click Update (Updated) in the lower right corner.

   Scroll up and click For you (For you). This tab is near the top of the left menu. A list of relevant news items will appear.

   Review the news that Google chooses for you. Scroll down the list of articles to see all the news that Google thinks is right for you.

   Specify that you want to see more news on a particular topic. If you see topics that you'd like to see more often on the Google News feed, please:
   • Hover your mouse pointer over the topic link.
   • Click the icon ⋮ appear below the link.
   • Click More stories like this (Other similar articles) in the drop-down menu.

   Limit specific topics for the future. Similar to when you request many other similar articles on a certain topic, you can also limit some future topics by:
   • Hover your mouse pointer over the topic link.
   • Click the icon ⋮ appear below the link.
   • Click Fewer stories like this (Less similar articles) in the drop-down menu that appears.

   Hide all news from the source. If there is a source that you do not want to read, you can hide it from the future news list by:
   • Place the mouse pointer on the link from that source.
   • Click the icon ⋮ appear below the link.
   • Click Hide stories from (Hide news articles from the source) in the drop-down menu that appears.

Method 2 of 2: On mobile

1. 

   Open Google News. Tap the Google News app with red, yellow, blue and green tags on a white background.
   • If Google News hasn't signed in automatically when you open the app, enter your email address and password when prompted.

   Click on the card For You in the lower left corner of the screen.

   Review the news that Google chooses for you. Scroll down the list of articles to see all the news that Google thinks is right for you.

   Specify that you want to see more news on a particular topic. To approve and request more news articles from certain topics in the news list at a later date:
   • Click on the icon ⋯ (iPhone) or ⋮ (Android) is on the right side of the theme.
   • Click More stories like this from the drop-down menu that appears.

   Limit specific topics for the future. If you want to limit something in the future, please:
   • Click on the icon ⋯ (iPhone) or ⋮ (Android) is on the right side of the theme.
   • Click Fewer stories like this from the drop-down menu that appears.

   Hide all news from certain sources from the news. You can ignore all news stories from the source that you want to restrict on the bulletin board by hiding the source like this:
   • Click on the icon ⋯ (iPhone) or ⋮ (Android) is on the right side of the theme.
   • Click Hide all stories from .

   Click the profile icon located in the upper right corner of the screen. A menu will pop up at the bottom of the screen.

   Click Settings (Settings) in the middle of the pop-up menu. The account setup page will open.

   Update language and country. If you want to change the language or country from which you receive news:
   • Click Language & region (or Preferred language & region on Android) at the top.
   • Scroll down until you find the desired language and country (listed under the "Language | Country" structure).
   • Tap a language and country to select it.

Advice

• You may need to remove news articles about unwanted topics from Google News multiple times before they actually stop appearing.
• When using the Google News mobile app, you can change specific settings such as temperature units (e.g., Fahrenheit) or Google settings (for example, the Google app that Google News can access) on Page Settings.

Warning

• While it is possible to filter news results by category, you will not be able to adjust the topics displayed on Google News unless you manually delete a topic or source.
